You might have seen this week’s Campus Cutie strolling through Plaza of the Americas a couple times or grabbing a bite to eat at his favorite Gainesville restaurant, Satchel’s Pizza. Ladies and gentlemen, give a warm welcome to Troy Tharpe!

Troy is a 20-year-old electrical engineering sophomore from Florida’s space coast. He’s a new member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, and he’s also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He loves cheering on the Florida Gators in The Swamp, and his favorite memory of college so far was his first tailgate as a member of Pi Kappa Phi.

As for his relationship status, Troy is currently taken. He’s been dating his girlfriend for a year and ten months and couldn’t be happier. When asked who his ‘ideal girl’ is, he quickly replied, “My girlfriend!” Troy’s idea of a perfect first date would be kicking back with some pizza and playing video games or watching a movie.

After graduation, Troy hopes to get a job in the space industry. “I always wanted to work with rockets because I grew up on the space coast,” he said. His dream job would be to work with SpaceX because he wants to be a part of advancing human exploration in space. We guess you could say this week’s Campus Cutie is truly out of this world.
