The best time of the year is here at Trader Joe’s, where the store transforms into a pumpkin spice, butternut squash and maple-syrup frenzy, and your bank account is not safe with every stroll down a new aisle. (But when is it ever safe at Trader Joe’s?)
Trader Joe’s fall product lineup has been out since early September, but since I’ve been desperately clinging to the end of summertime and have just gotten excited for spooky season, I’ve yet to indulge. When I finally decided to take the trip to one of the most consistently busy stores in Gainesville, I was tempted to buy every single item that even remotely hinted at fall.
Although that temptation was strong, I decided, along with my eager roommates who wanted to taste what remained, to focus my attention on the most important part of the fall lineup: the snacks. Along with nearly every other college student with a busy and oftentimes inconvenient schedule, versatile, packaged snacks are a daily staple, and Trader Joe’s consistently offers some of the best. I tasted my way through Trader Joe’s Fall 2026 snack catalog to see what is worth adding to the weekly rotation and what we just wouldn’t reach for.
Pumpkin Tortilla Chips
Starting off strong with an item that made me do a double-take inside the store. I don’t think anyone could have possibly thought of this besides Trader Joe’s itself, and I definitely don’t think anyone asked for this.
Although I wasn’t sure what to expect just from the title, I learned from a quick scan of the ingredients list that these chips are just regular corn tortilla chips that have been mixed together with a combination of pumpkin purée and pumpkin seeds. On top, there is a dusting of cinnamon, nutmeg and sea-salt.
After taking my first bite, I wasn’t quite sure what to think. They somehow tasted savory, salty and vaguely sweet from the cinnamon dusting all at the same time, and I found myself slightly overwhelmed and wishing for just one distinct flavor to shine through.
Although an interesting concept for sure, I don’t think I would ever find myself reaching for these to eat by themselves, and I couldn’t imagine any dip that could pair with them.
Verdict: Bye
Pumpkin Spiced Teeny Tiny Pretzels
As an avid pretzel consumer, especially when covered in chocolate or flavored yogurt, I had high expectations for these pretzels, and they did not disappoint.
The coating had the perfect level of pumpkin spice, where it added necessary flavor without becoming overpowering. These miniature pretzels are the perfect mix of sweet and salty while packing just enough seasonal flavor.
If you’re someone who likes tiny versions of snacks like me, you will definitely appreciate the size of these pretzels — just perfect to tide you over between meals!
Verdict: Buy
Maple & Sea Salt Kettle Corn
If I had just one word to describe this delicious kettle corn, it would have to be addictive. My bag went from completely full to empty faster than I would have hoped, as I found myself unable to stop from grabbing handful after handful.
The maple flavor is slight yet noticeable, especially when paired with the perfect level of salt to balance it out. Unlike many bags of kettle corn I have tried where you have to dig around to find a perfectly caramelized piece, nearly every single piece features the perfect level of crunch.
I am sad just thinking about this product only being available for fall, and I am already planning my next Trader Joe’s trip to stock up on as many bags as I can get my hands on.
Verdict: Buy
Petite Pumpkin Spice Cookies
These little cookies were absolutely adorable to look at and reminded me of a pumpkin-themed, festive frosted animal cracker.
However, nostalgia was not enough for this snack to creep into my favorites list. Although there is nothing wrong with the cookies — the shortbread base and the icing pair well together, and the white and orange nonpareils on the top add a nice touch — the pumpkin flavor didn’t really come through for me.
Overall, although I enjoyed my time sampling these cookies, I do not think I would reach for them again over the other snacks in the fall lineup, and especially not over some of the other pumpkin cookie options.
Verdict: Bye
Pumpkin Joe Joe’s
Now for a cookie that I’ve been reaching for time and time again: the Pumpkin Joe Joe’s. If you know anything about Joe Joe’s, the Trader Joe’s-branded cookies that slightly resemble Oreos, you should have high hopes for the new fall flavor.
These Pumpkin Joe Joe’s exceeded my expectations. The cookie wafers themselves feature a slight pumpkin flavor and are the perfect mix between crunchy and crumbly. The filling combines a blend of cinnamon spice with a pumpkin purée flavor, just enough to add sweetness while letting the pumpkin get its moment to shine.
It should also be noted that Trader Joe’s did not skimp on the crème filling, with each cookie packing a strong punch.
Verdict: Buy
Halloween Joe Joe’s
Unlike their pumpkin counterpart, the Halloween Joe Joe’s resemble traditional Oreos, with a layer of orange-colored vanilla crème sandwiched between two chocolate cookies. The cookies are given fun, spooky pumpkin faces to get you into the Halloween spirit during snack time.
Although these cookies were a tasty treat, they resembled Oreo cookies too closely themselves, and nothing besides the addition of Halloween spirit sets them apart. Even though these are a solid addition to the Joe Joe’s lineup, I would forego them for another option that feels a little more like a true taste of fall.
Verdict: Bye
Pumpkin Pie Spice Bark
Bringing a seasonal twist to the classic peppermint bark, the Pumpkin Pie Spice Bark is a mix of pumpkin-pie-spiced white chocolate and gingersnap cookies, topped with a drizzle of dark chocolate and a sprinkle of sea salt.
How do I even begin to describe this sinful autumn creation? The bark is the ideal mix of creamy, crunchy and sweet, but not too sweet to the point of being headache-inducing. Unfortunately, that also means it is the perfect level of sweet that makes it easy to indulge in the entire bag in one sitting.
If you can manage to resist the urge and use the resealable bag as intended, the Pumpkin Pie Spice Bark is a fall snack that you will be returning to day after day.
Verdict: Buy
After tasting my way through Trader Joe’s fall lineup, there are definitely some snacks that earned a permanent spot on my grocery list this season and others that I’ll happily leave on the shelf. From the addictive Maple & Sea Salt Kettle Corn to the Pumpkin Joe Joe’s and Pumpkin Pie Spice Bark, Trader Joe’s has plenty of options to satisfy your fall cravings.
So next time you find yourself wandering through the aisles this fall, you’ll know exactly what’s worth adding to your cart — and what’s better left behind!
