Three Signs You Should Leave Him

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

The post Valentine’s Day relationship can take on a very different look to the one you had in early February. Think of Valentine’s Day as an audition. Your man put on a show to demonstrate his boyfriend-behavior to you and more importantly to everyone else. But was he a real catch? Now the performance is over, the curtain has fallen, and those rose-tinted glasses aren’t covering as much as they used to. It may be time to dump your man if he’s fallen into some of these bad habits and talking to him about it hasn’t made a long-term impact on his behavior.

Does he call when he says he will?
This is really basic. If your man cannot keep a super simple promise, maybe it’s time to move on. Yes, he may get busy, but he’ll never be so busy he can’t send you a text telling you that he needs to reschedule his call. Not calling can very quickly turn into missing dates, appointments, or even the wedding ceremony. Now, I may be overstating things. He can miss a few calls, but make sure he apologizes and has a better reason than “I forgot.” You’re worth the time of day, and he better recognize it.

Does he change around his friends?
Your man having friends is a must. That being said, he should be the same person around them as he is around you. When you’re out with him and his buddies, he should be including you in all the conversations going on and introducing you as his girlfriend, not as his friend. Boys get rowdy around their friends, but he should never, ever be disrespectful towards you because it would make his buddies laugh.

Does he even hide the fact that he’s checking out other girls?
We cannot get around the fact that our men have eyes, and they are going to use them. That being said, he should at the very least have the decency to hide the fact that he’s checking out the ladies around you. Finally, there is never a woman, a babe, a lady, or a chick hotter or more beautiful than you are, and he better recognize.

Always know you are a gem and that he should treat you accordingly. If he isn’t making you feel like royalty, or at the very least like a friend, dump him on the curve like the hot mess he is.
