You can feel the tension in the air, people drinking excessive amounts of coffee and staying in the library until 1 a.m. It’s final exam time, and Her Campus has plenty of study and survival tips to ensure all of you get through these next few weeks.

1. Break up your study sessions.

In college, most people just focus on the studying and not on relaxation. This comes to be a problem as the continual studying causes stress. It is important to remember to study for certain periods of time followed by a break, doing any enjoyable activity. This will also cause you to not resent the library as much when it is time to study and allow your mind to grasp more concepts.

2. Coffee is your lifesaver.

When your energy is feeling low and you need something to re-focus your will to study, remember one thing: Coffee is your friend. Just one cup will give you that boost of energy you need, not to mention you will get a little break while going to pick some up. With a Starbucks conveniently located in Library West, you won’t have to go far to fill your coffee void.

3. Mix it up to stay interested.

Switch from note taking to memorizing, and then ask a friend to quiz you on the topic.
Some people overlook the fact that studying can be fun! You can make a game out of your material with a friend in class or just test one another. It is always important to remember that your friends want to see you succeed and will help you if you need it. Switching it up will also help you with your study endurance. If you are making it fun, you wont get frustrated with the amount of time you are taking to study.

4. Don’t panic.

At the end of the day, it’s just a grade. It is so important to remember to not panic and just relax. Typically, college students put so much emphasis on studying that when they get into the exam they blank. Just take deep breaths and concentrate. If you have put the work into the material, it will show through and through.

5. Sleep!

The most important rule for finals week is to SLEEP! If you do not allow your body to rest, you will not see or achieve the goals you were looking for.  It is also important that you do not deprive yourself of your sleep when studying. It will feel more like a punishment than progress if you do not get your rest.
