The Stages of Realizing You’re a Second-Semester Senior

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Realizing you’re a second-semester senior in college elicits a ton of emotions. As someone who is in the midst of coming to terms with the fact that I will be out in the real world in four short months, I can vouch for this flood of mixed emotions. Through talking to friends and doing some reflecting of my own, I have identified the stages that come with realizing life as a college student is coming to an end.

You refuse to leave even if someone drags you to graduation by your hair.

Thinking about the future causes significant levels of fear and anxiety.

But you come to accept that moving on and up is necessary.

And the thought of being a real person is kind of exciting!

Especially when you realize the days of group projects and exam cramming are almost over.

And earning a college degree is a huge accomplishment.

After all, this is the beginning of the rest of our lives!

While impending adulthood is scary and intimidating, it’s also empowering and exciting. So, collegiettes, whether you’re a second-semester senior or just beginning your college career, enjoy the time that’s left because there’s no place in the world like UF.
