Having a Halloween party but stumped on how to give your gathering the eerie, holiday vibe? I can show you some tips to transforming your apartment into a spooky, Halloween lair with tasty treats to go along with it. And here’s the good part: You can do it all by yourself!

1. These Halloween decorations can complete any refreshment table. All you have to do is buy a bag of balloons, fill them with helium and use a black permanent marker to draw on some Jack-O-Lantern faces. Boom! You’ve turned your typical refreshment table into a haunted pumpkin patch.

Haunting Hint: Some party stores allow you to order balloons in specific numbers or colors. Contact the nearest party store to find out! This way, you don’t have to pick through an assortment to get the ones you want.

2. These spooky ghost jugs make for a great outdoor decoration that’ll scare your party guests on their way into your home. And even better, you’re putting empty milk jugs to good use! Use any number of jugs – preferably at least three – and use a black permanent marker to draw on faces. Then, cut a quarter-sized hole in the back of each jug. String clear Christmas lights through each hole and arrange the jugs close to each other. Now you have some eerie outdoor décor.

Haunting Hint: Don’t make these ghosts too scary… you wouldn’t want to scare away the party guests!

3. These candy dishes are perfect for a Halloween party — and they’re a good way to reuse any old containers you have lying around! Just wrap some gauze around the container, glue on some googly eyes and you’re done! Fill them with candy, scary (fake) spiders or even potpourri!

Haunting Hint: You can easily mummify any container – whether you use an out of season Christmas tin, an old Tupperware, the bottom of a water bottle, or even an oversized soup can.

4. Now, let’s talk refreshments. You can’t just serve any ordinary food for a Halloween party. The food and drinks need to be just as eerie as the decorations surrounding them. Make your guests feel as though they are trapped in a mad scientist’s laboratory by skipping the boring glasses and serving beverages in these scary syringes! These are sure to impress your guests, and make the drinks seem a bit creepier.

Haunting Hint: Use food coloring to make each beverage a different color. It’ll make your guests wonder what sort of concoction they’re about to be served.

5. For a tasty Halloween-themed treat, simply melt down some white baking chocolate, stir in some orange food coloring, and then dip the pretzels. Stick a green M&M to the top of the pretzel to look like a pumpkin stem. Refrigerate the pretzels, and once the chocolate has hardened, serve up your pumpkin treats!

Haunting Hint: Dip your pretzels twice for an even sweeter treat!

6. These adorably spooky skeleton pops are made to look like Jack from “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” but I think they’re definitely scary enough for Halloween! Plus, they’re very easy to make. Hold two Oreos together (Double Stuf, of course!) and dip them in melted white chocolate. Stick a lollipop stick between the two Oreos. Once the chocolate has hardened, used black frosting to draw on the skeleton face. If Jack’s suit is too complicated for you, or you’re not a big fan of “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” just draw a skeleton body and glue it to the stick. Then you have a tasty, festive treat!

Haunting Hint: If Oreos aren’t your thing, you can easily bake cookies of your choice and follow the same directions.

7. Spookify deviled eggs with only one extra addition! Place a black olive in the center of an egg. Then slice an olive in half. Cut each half into four pieces from top to bottom. Arrange the eight little olive pieces around the olive so they look like spider legs. Now you have a scary bite that’s sure to be a crowd pleaser!

Haunting Hint: Use green food coloring in the egg yolk to make your dish look even creepier!
