Savvy Updates: How to Wear Your Scarf

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

As the weather cools down in Gainesville, it won’t be long before all of the lady Gators are spotted around UF’s campus sporting their staple fall pieces: riding boots, dark denim and fashionable scarves. This week I am going to give you all a Savvy Update about how to wear your winter scarves this season.

Whether you’re heading to your afternoon class or going to Midtown for a night out, a sassy scarf can be a trendsetting accessory to almost any outfit and for any occasion. Here are three ways to utilize your favorite scarf next time you’re getting ready to look your best:

1. The Simple Wrap: This look is truly effortless and perfect for heading to class or Library West. Take your scarf and put it around the front of your neck. Crisscross the ends behind your neck and bring them back around so that they hang loosely in the front. Adjust the length so that it is comfortable around your neck. This wrap looks best with a simple t-shirt and red Starbucks cup in hand.

2. The Classic Knot: Classy and chic: two of every collegiate women’s favorite things. To tie your scarf this way, hold up your scarf in the middle, so that there is two equal halves. While still folded in half, put the scarf around your neck and take the two loose ends and pull them through the loop. Adjust the knot so that it sits comfortably on your neck. For a savvy chic look, pair this knot with a silk top and jeans for the perfect dinner date outfit.

3. Your Favorite Bag: Your favorite bag can stand to be jazzed up every once in a while, wouldn’t you say? Tying your favorite scarf to your purse can create a completely different look and also be practical. Tie one of your scarves to your purse for use on campus during the day as a fun way to freshen up your typical ensemble. As the sun sets and it starts to get chilly, make the transfer from day to night and untie your scarf for use around your neck so that you can stay warm as you head out for the night!

Remember these tips for tying a scarf the next time you’re spicing up your fall wardrobe. Investing in scarves is a great way to give a Savvy Update to multiple looks in your closet!
