Quick and Easy Hair Styles in 15 minutes or less

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

I strongly believe in the saying “look good; feel good.” If you’re having a great hair day or wearing a super cute outfit, you’re almost 100 percent guaranteed to have a better day. It gives you that little extra boost of confidence to sit in the open seat next to that cutie in your math class that you’ve been drooling over all semester, and maybe even give the guts to ask him to borrow a pencil (even though you secretly have one in your backpack, and you just wanted a lame excuse to talk to him)!

If you’re stuck in a rut with styling your hair and feel like it looks the same every day, then fear not; Her Campus UFL is here to help! Check out these easy hairstyles, depending on how much time you’ve got on your hands:

No time: All Natural
You pressed the snooze button one too many times, and now you’re late to class. Don’t let the rush to run out the door mess up your hair confidence! There’s nothing wrong with letting your hair fall as it may. Shake things up a bit by adding a boho printed or jeweled headband.

3 minutes: Messy Topknot
Messy topknots are your go-to for that carefree yet chic and put-together look. Simply gather your hair at the crown of your head, twist it, and wrap it around until the ends are tucked in. Then, secure it with bobby pins or a hair tie. For those annoying flyaways, try spraying hairspray on an unused toothbrush and brushing them back. It sounds weird, but it works like a charm!

7 minutes: Fishtail Braid
Although this hairstyle is harder to perfect, it’s totally doable with the help of a YouTube tutorial and a little practice. The time it takes all depends on the length of your hair, but it gets easier and quicker once you get the hang of it. Fishtails are the perfect way to spice up the side braid you may usually do, and it looks even cuter if you pull a few shorter strands out and curl them! To create this look, divide your hair into two sections and alternate pulling strands from one side to the other.

10 minutes: Sleek Ponytail
This is one of my favorite looks because it has a sophisticated air to it. Start by straightening your hair, but don’t forget some heat protecting spray first! Pull your hair back into a regular ponytail, smoothing out all of the bumps. You can even use my toothbrush trick to get rid of those flyaways. To mix it up a bit, try braiding a small portion of your hair and wrapping it around the hair tie.

15 minutes: Beachy Waves
One of the most desired and effortless looks out there are beachy waves, and very few realize how easy it is to achieve. Simply separate your hair into sections and curl with a wand that has a 1-inch barrel. Once curled, brush your hair out. I promise, this won’t ruin your hair! This is what gives it that natural, just-off-the-beach look. Finish off by spritzing some texturizing spray to make your tousled look last all day.

As the year slowly comes to a close, it’s so tempting to forget about your appearance and not care anymore. But trust me, if you take the extra few minutes to get ready in the morning, your day will be 10 times better. You’ll feel more confident and alive if you’re rocking a cute dress and some beachy curls than if you were wearing sweatpants and a hoodie. So try out these simple hairstyles, and end this year with a bang!
