“Is that hummus?”

Nutrition Nut here! We cannot get enough of the peanut butter textured, middle eastern dip we like to call a taste of heaven. Oh, and don’t forget about our obsession with Greek yogurt or San Pellegrino sparkling water.

Just kidding. Although we do love our carrots and hummus, this blog will feature much more than the trendy diets of today’s culture. As Nutrition Nut, I’ll share recipes, health tips, food hot spots and much more in this diary-styled blog.

The other night I conjured up a delicious – but not diet-deadly – midnight snack that I promise to soon post on Nutrition Nut. Today at Sunflower Seeds, a Gainesville health mart, I learned more about the particular supplements needed for young women. Last week, I called my cousin, who grows and distributes her own vegetables, and she told me valuable info about what our body needs for sustenance and how to get it.

You should know I love food – more specifically, I love cheese, wine, dark chocolate, bread, pizza and Diet Coke. Unlike Miranda Kerr, a Victoria Secret’s supermodel, I cannot completely deprive myself of these foods I love. I just can’t give them a permanent good-bye.

Let’s bet honest – Nutrition Nut gets cravings too, and on this blog I will also include the psychological aspects and eating behaviors of society, and how to cope with this in midst of American culture. I’ll tell you everything I know: informational bits about fruits and vegetables, vegan/gluten free cooking ideas, the perfect grocery list, and my favorite – the best healthy plates in Gainesville’s restaurants and cafes.Â
