How to Upgrade Your Campus Outfit: 7 Tips for the Lazy Girl

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

When your alarm buzzes too soon and you drag yourself out of bed too late, putting together an outfit can be a mission that your half-asleep brain can barely process. Let’s face it — with early morning classes, most of us don’t have the energy to put together full-on ensembles, so sweats are often a go-to. But while you may not have a care in the world at 8 a.m. (Honestly — how many of us actually do!?), walking confidently to class can improve your attitude for the rest of the day. When you’re running out the door feeling insecure about how you look, it dampens your mood while you’re walking to class, taking notes in lecture and even when talking to a friend.

As college students, we have more than enough to stress about. You don’t want your appearance to be one of them. By dressing better, you may find yourself with a little pep in your step. To help you out, here are seven ways to help your inner lazy girl look a little more put together when you’re struggling to get out of bed.

1. Hoops

Hoops are one of the most popular trends of the moment. They can upgrade your outfit and bring fun and energy to your look. They move with your step, giving you a whole new groove. Growing up, my parents always told me that earrings make your face glow, bringing light and effervescence to your eyes. I’d like to think this applies to everyone, especially with earrings as jubilant as these. Bonus tip: If it’s comfortable enough, sleep in your hoops to delete a step in your lazy morning routine.

2. A touch of rouge

Grab your go-to lipstick and apply just a smidge to your lips to create a natural look that brightens up your tired eyes and (hopefully) distracts from those annoying eyebags. If you want an extra little pop, blend a dot of color from your lipstick onto your cheeks to create a natural looking blush that will make you look more alive than the fatigue you’re feeling inside.

3. Solid colors

When your eyes are barely managing to stay open, don’t overcomplicate your life by mixing crazy patterns. Stick to basic solid colors that can easily be paired. Stock up on white or black tees that can be mixed and matched with most items. With these essentials, you can just yank clothes off the hanger and dash out the door whenever you procrastinate getting out of bed.

4. Graphic tees

With graphic tees, you get the *best of both worlds.* Fun t-shirts add some personality and flair to your outfit while giving you the comfort and ease that you crave in the morning. The best part: They can say all the things you don’t have the energy to say before you’ve had your morning coffee. To upgrade your look a step further, try tying up your shirt.

5. Top it off with a bun

For some, doing your hair can be an entire journey that we don’t always have time for in the mornings. High or low, buns are a quick hairstyle to do for the lazy girl inside you. Wear your bun high to elongate your face. A lower bun can create a more carefree look. Want to hide your face a little more? Leave a few strands of hair out on the sides.

6. Glow up

If you’re looking for a quick makeup trick to wake you up in the morning, highlighter is your friend. Use it to brighten up the best parts of you. It wakes you up and addes some extra sparkle to your beautiful face. Personally, I like to apply a smidge on the inner corners of my eye, along with my eyelids to try to bring some vibrancy into my half-asleep eyes.

7. Leggings and joggers

Stock up on two of the most comfortable pieces of clothing in existence. Leggings and joggers can make you look care-free and cool on even your laziest of days. Try to stick to basic colors like black and grey so you can mix and match with a variety of shirts.

At the end of the day, everyone has their own style and aesthetic. So make these tips your own to feel the most comfortable and confident when heading off to class and just being the killer girl boss you are.
