How to Speak Your Goals Into Existence With Vision Boards

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

“Speak, and you shall receive.”

This idea has been around for centuries. The idea as a whole is that once something is sent into the universe it has a large probability of becoming a reality. This idea is based on the Law of Attraction. The law proposes the idea that we have the ability to attract into our lives whatever we are focusing on. They say that in order to make things happen in life you need to learn to speak the language of the universe.

Whether your religious beliefs conflict with this idea or you just feel like luck isn’t on your side, vision boards still make a great physical motivational force. They say seeing is believing, and that’s where vision boards come into play. By adding visualization of your ideal life to your daily routine, you naturally become more motivated to reach your goals.

Vision boards

Vision boards are physical boards traditionally made on corkboard but can also be done digitally. They have physical cutouts and representations of future aspirations. Making one is very simple and perfect for large goals and smaller ones for a specific period.

The steps:

1. Find pictures that represent the experiences or possessions you want to attract into your life, and place them in your board.

2. Choose words and images that inspire you to place around your main items

3. Use words and images that best represent your purpose and ideal future

4. Most importantly look at it every day once it’s done

Key to getting it to work:

I think the ultimate key to vision boards and why speaking things into existence generally works is because you’re actively reminding yourself of your goals. If you look at the board every day and remind yourself of your motivation, the universe may not just hand you anything but you definitely work towards it every day. When your goals and aspirations are at the forefront of your mind you make a conscious effort to do the right thing to get yourself there.
