How to Make Workout Gear Cute for Everyday Wear

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

As the semester drags on and we collegiettes get closer and closer to midterms, we become much more interested in feeling comfortable in class, yet we still want to look cute. I’m here to tell you that there is a solution to both of those needs. Over the years, athletic companies have started creating not only comfortable athletic wear but also colorful, cute and wearable workout clothes for everyday style. It’s possible to look cute and polished even while wearing workout clothes! The key is putting the outfit all together.

The Outfit

The outfit is the most fun part of your look. Athletic brands have become so much more stylish lately that there are many different colors and styles you can opt for to have multiple go-to comfy outfits. It is important to choose what part of the outfit you want to be the most noticeable, meaning the most colorful. You don’t want to look like a walking neon sign, so you should either choose your top or your bottom to be the colorful half of your outfit. Many people prefer to go for black leggings or workout shorts and pair them with a colorful top. There are also companies that design adorable workout shorts. For example, Krass & Co. has colorful and preppy workout shorts that look amazing paired with solid-colored tops.

The Shoes

Most people have multiple pairs of workout shoes. This is the time where you want to stay away from your dirty, worn-down sneakers. Instead, wear your newest and brightest sneakers to give the outfit a clean finish.

The Hair

When wearing workout clothes to class, you can have a lot of fun with your hair. No need to wear it up because you aren’t actually working out. Soft waves look very nice or a half-up, half-down hairstyle pulls the look together as well.

The Makeup

This is a look where you will want to have very natural-looking makeup. As your outfit will likely already be bright and colorful, there is no need for bright lipstick or eyeshadow. Opt for a nude lip, mascara, light eyeliner and bronze tones of eyeshadow. Add a little bit of blush to complete the look.

The Accessories

You can definitely still wear jewelry while wearing workout clothes. Have you seen Olympians? Many of them often wear a simple necklace or bracelet, even while competing. For your look, I would suggest wearing simple stud earrings like pearls because they won’t take away from your outfit choice. A simple necklace or even watch would make a great accessory for this look. Just don’t choose anything too elaborate. Stick to simple and cute to avoid looking like you’re trying too hard to pull the look together.

With these tips, any collegiette can look effortlessly stylish, comfortable and cute in workout gear. You can even go an entire week in workout clothes. There are so many options and ways to mix and match them to create entirely new looks each day.
