Since 1888, motion-picture films have been providing audiences with entertainment, delight and an escape from reality.

For years, original content has been turning into hit movies and screened in theaters for crowds to gather and watch.

After all of this time, however, people may wonder how these movie producers think of brand-new ideas?

Here’s the answer – not all movies are brand new.

In fact, a current trend in the movie industry is to remodel classic movies and add a new, modern twist to them.

Although at first glance, many people may think this idea is not smart and that people would prefer to see something original, movie remakes have turned out to be a hit more often than a bust.

The thought process that film producers are using is that if moviegoers love an old movie, then they would love to see one of their favorite films turned into a modern version.

These movie remakes give their audience a blast to the past, and allows fans to feel nostalgic and live in the moment all at once.

Many people tend to see movie remakes out of sheer curiosity as to what the similarities and differences will be to the original version.

Moreover, these movies promote intellectual conversations amongst fans.

This trend started amongst Disney with “Maleficent,” which was a spin on the original story of “Sleeping Beauty,” and became an instant hit.

This past year, classic Disney movies have been remade in hopes of success and many more are on the way.

Here are some of the current trending movies that are available to you today:

Aladdin

Disney’s “Aladdin” is my new personal favorite!

Although I wasn’t a typical “Aladdin” fan as a child, and basically only remembered the movie as “the one with the magic carpet,” I instantly fell in love after watching this live-action adaptation of the original animated film that tells the detailed and action-packed love story between a princess and a street urchin.

This movie had a modern feel because the film included well-known actors such as Naomi Scott and Will Smith, and incorporated humorous punchlines.

On the other hand, this movie allowed me to relive my childhood by maintaining the traditional disney aspect from the original version.

Moreover, the movie comes with a breathtaking new soundtrack, including songs like “A Whole New World” and “Friend Like Me. ”

The Lion King

“The Lion King” is another example of a classic animated film turned into a live remake this past year.

Furthermore, this movie is unique for its portrayal of the characters and scenery; it’s hard to believe that the animals are not real.

“The Lion King” is known for being a tear-jerker, the story of the ‘circle of life’ which depicts  a baby cub’s journey to becoming King.

The 2019 version of this beloved classic is almost identical to the original, which is often frowned upon from taking the spotlight away from a well-known classic.

However, this movie does such a good job of recapturing the same story in a new fashion.

I would recommend seeing this film in 3-D to further immerse yourself in it.

This movie also brings back classic hits, including “Hakuna Matata,” “Circle of Life” and “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King.” More specifically, notable singers such as Beyonce and Elton John are featured on this new album.

Dumbo

Whenever I hear the name Dumbo, I instantly think back to my childhood, remembering the countless times I watched this animated film.

It’s still hard for me to believe that there is even a live remake of this movie, given that the original was released more than 70 years ago.

Dumbo tells the story of an elephant who is bullied for the size of his years who overcomes adversity after a circus-owning family takes him in and he learns that he can fly.

The live remake does a great job of recapturing the original story with a modern twist.

It doesn’t end with these few movies.

In fact, many similar movies are coming to theatres soon.

Some of these movies include “Lady and the Tramp,” “Pinocchio,” “Tinkerbelle,” “Mulan” and “The Little Mermaid.”

All in all, Disney remakes are available on DVD, streaming in theaters or currently in the works.

So purchase your tickets, grab your popcorn and go out to see one of the many infamous movie remakes currently in theaters!
