How do you feel about taking your clothes off in front of a couple hundred of your classmates? Not feeling it? Would you change your mind if the clothes you took off were donated to charity?
Â
This event is known as the Great Underwear Dash. Each semester, right before finals week, University of Florida students gather on Turlington Plaza late in the night to donate their clothing and run around campus together.
Â
This semester, the charitable event will be held on Friday, April 13 at 11 p.m. Still considering being a part of the masses? Here are five reasons why we think you should give the “naked” run a shot!
Â
1. Step out of your comfort zone. It’s not every day that you wear only underwear in front of hundreds of people. Yeah, it’s a little scary, but you’re in college, where this sort of thing is acceptable. So, take a deep breath and do something you normally wouldn’t – take your clothes off!
Â
2. It’s for charity. All of the clothes taken off before the run are bagged up and donated to the St. Francis House.
Â
3. It’s a stress reliever. Because this event is right before finals, it’s the perfect way to have some fun because you have to crack open your textbooks and dive into psycho or bio for days on in.
Â
4. You’ll get a workout. Once you’re in only your underwear, you’ll then follow the crowd and run around campus. Although you’ll only be running less than a mile, you’ll still be burning calories instead of sitting at home on the couch watching TV.
Â
5. You’ll make new memories. College is all about making new, crazy memories, so why wouldn’t you want to add this one to the list? Just imagine telling your kids years from now that you once ran a mile in your underwear with a few hundred other people – if they even believe you!
