Gator Glam Kiss and Tell: Lipstick Trends For 2014

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

In 2012, nail polish sales were through the roof. But The Huffington Post recently reported statistics from The NPD Group Inc. saying 2013 was an even bigger year for lipstick. And with the variety of lips that rocked the runway during spring 2014’s Fashion Week, it’s no question that 2014 will be a big year for lips. Here are four different styles that will be making an appearance this season!

1. Coral Craze: Orange, coral, neon, oh my! With spring on the horizon, many girls are glamming it up with a seasonal color. This look is great for dressing up a natural face and making the lips the center of attention. It’s perfect for dressing up a casual outfit or spicing up your usual look.

2. Au Natural: Ironically, going for a nude gloss is also a statement look this season. If you’re heading to class or glamming up your eye shadow, using a nude lipstick will perfect the balance for your face.

3. Maroon Madness: A sexy dark red or maroon color has been quite popular this holiday season. This color can really pop against a light winter complexion and instantly dress up any outfit.

4. Classic Red: You can never go wrong with the classic red lips. Since the days of Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor, red lips have been a signature look. A bold red goes great with a nighttime outfit or a little black dress.

So, if you’re tired of wearing the typical pink lips that you’ve been rocking since high school, hit the mall. With tons of different styles and colors, there’s no way you can go wrong.
