Gator Glam: Five Easy Halloween Makeup Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

October is upon us, collegiettes! That means Halloween is right around the corner. With busy college schedules and midterms underway, many of us don’t have time to plan the perfect Halloween outfit. But not to worry! There are tons of simple last minute makeup ideas that will make you the one to remember at any Halloween party you attend, and I’ve discovered five of my favorite looks that won’t break your bank.

The basic makeup for these costumes consists of many items you probably already have in your makeup bag. These include black eyeliner and eye shadow, white eyeliner and eye shadow, glittery or silver eye shadow, false lashes, nude or light pink lipstick, and light or cream-colored concealer.

1. Black Swan
This movie made the creepy look sported by Natalie Portman extremely popular. It’s elegant and pretty, yet dark enough for a nighttime Halloween event. I love this look, and it’s easy and stylish when added to a black dress and crown! To finish it off, add some dramatic plum-red lipstick. Check out a “Black Swan” tutorial here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpUzRTpP8cs

2. Twiggy
If you’re looking for a fashionable, 70s mod look, Twiggy is perfect! The beauty icon had statement eyes that take only a few minutes to create. Top it off with a short blond wig, and you’re ready to go. Check out a “Twiggy” tutorial here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnHwI1URFVM

3. Cobweb Eyes
If you don’t have much time or makeup, this is a quick-and-easy look that goes great with a plain black dress. Halloween is always associated with spiders, so what better way to celebrate then by drawing on spider webs? This cobweb look is sure to make your eyes really “pop” at your next social event. Check out how to make “Cobweb” eyes with this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_yf-YsiAEs

4. Deer
A deer or fawn for Halloween definitely isn’t as common, but it’s much easier than most people would expect! Add some antlers to a headband and a brown dress and this style is complete! Don’t forget some darker creamed concealer or brown eye shadow to blend with your skin color to really pull off the deer look. Here’s an easy “Deer” tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KH9mfEWizg

5. Peacock
Peacock-colored eye shadow is gorgeous but can sometimes be too much for a regular night out at Midtown. This is perfect for Halloween to get a classy, head-turning look. Make sure you have some blue, green, teal, and emerald eye shadow to mimic true peacock feathers! Check out a great “Peacock” tutorial here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jn2gvtX0I-U

These are just a few of my favorites Halloween makeup tutorials, but you can find tons of different ones on websites such as Pinterest and YouTube. Try some out for yourself, and find a favorite of your own!
