Gator Glam: 8 Fashion Problems Every Petite Girl Will Have Once in Her Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Skinny girl fashion problems are real, and it’s not our fault that our metabolisms are faster than Usain Bolt. Since I am a petite girl, I thought that this would be a great chance to tell our experiences and the shopping curses us petite girls will or have already faced when it comes to finding and wearing certain clothes. Don’t be fooled, there are many pros that a petite girl experiences as well, but to me, the cons definitely outweigh the pros. Here are a few common problems.

1. Being told “You can pull that off for sure!”
In all actuality, skinny girls aren’t able to pull off every clothing item someone sees. It just doesn’t work.

2. It is impossible to find clothes that are both flattering and stylish.
Nope, we don’t get to have the option of finding both.

3. Long sleeves and sweaters become our best friends.
Petite girls are always cold, so when we start to freeze to death throughout the day, we’ll regret not having something warm on us at all times.

4. Trying to find knee-high boots that actually fit your calves.
Usually our legs just end up swimming in them.

5. Everything is always oversized.
Going to the best tailors in town will make our oversized maxi dress fit perfectly.

6. Forever shopping in the kids section.
This can actually a great thing for us because the prices are usually much more reasonable. However, I stopped wearing unicorn T-shirts at age 6.

7. Even in the best outfit, we always get reminded of how skinny we are.
PSA: We already know this. Now compliment my outfit and have a great day.

8. We realize that skinny jeans and leggings are the only bottoms that seem to fit perfectly.
This will happen, which is why leggings and skinny jeans become the only bottoms we call on in a time of need.

At the end of the day, no matter how annoying these problems can get, always remember to embrace your body type and love yourself just the way you are!
