Her Campus: What is your position on campus?Hannah Zeffren: “Freshmen Leadership Engineering Group Treasurer.”

HC: How did you get involved with FLEG?HZ: “I heard about the organization from a friend before freshman year and knew I wanted to apply. I went through the recruitment process and got accepted early freshman year, and have been involved ever since.”

HC: What is your favorite part of being involved with the group?HZ: “The opportunities to impact the college of engineering, the personal and professional development the organization promotes, and the people make for a fantastic experience overall.”

HC: And the biggest challenge?HZ: “Budgeting my time and making sacrifices as to what I can commit myself to. It’s hard trying to balance academics, extracurriculars, athletics and a social life. I always want to be able to put more of myself into the organization, but sometimes I struggle to find the time to do so. It’s always difficult to say no to something you’re passionate about.”

HC: What other things are you involved in on campus?HZ: “Besides FLEG executive board, I play club water polo and participate in undergraduate research through the REM program.”

HC: What are your hobbies?HZ: “Running, going to the gym, eating, listening to music, and playing water polo.”

HC: What advice would you give to new students?HZ: “Get involved early on. Finding a good group of people helps make this huge university seem so much smaller. Plus it’s so much easier to form study groups from within an academic organization that pertains to your major.”
