Entertainment10: Shia LaBeouf, Ariana Grande & Game of Thrones

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Thanksgiving has come and gone, but we are still thankful for the week’s Entertainment10. This week left a lot to be thankful for especially with celebrity make-ups, a reality star’s marriage and the revival of the famous Burn Book. It was a news-packed week for the entertainment world.

1. Shia LaBeouf says he was raped during his art show. The 28-year-old always seems to raise eyebrows, and his latest claim is no exception. In an interview with Dazed & Confused magazine, the actor shared that he was raped during his #IAMSORRY art event in Los Angeles earlier this year. “One woman who came with her boyfriend, who was outside the door when this happened, whipped my legs for ten minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me.” LaBeouf continued, “There were hundreds of people in line when she walked out with disheveled hair and smudged lipstick. It was no good, not just for me but her man as well.” The LaBeouf camp has been silent since the release of his claim.

2. Bette Midler disses Ariana Grande. In an interview with The Guardian, the 69-year-old actress cited Grande as an example when discussing the pornographic ways of the pop industry. “It’s terrible! It’s always surprising to see someone like Ariana Grande with that silly high voice, a very wholesome voice, slithering around on a couch looking so ridiculous.” Midler additionally told the publication, “You don’t have to make a whore out of yourself to get ahead.” Grande took to Twitter to respond, captioning a photo of Midler in a mermaid outfit, “All love here.” Grande additionally posted the following tweet: “Bette was always a feminist who stood for women being able to do whatever the F they wanted without judgment! Not sure where that Bette went but I want that sexy mermaid back!!! Always a fan no matter what my love.” In an attempt to play nice, Midler then tweeted, “About my screed on @ArianaGrande , all I can say is, ‘Spoken like a reformed old whore! She does have a beautiful voice, on a couch or off.’”

3. Snooki is a married woman. Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi married Jionni LaValle in New Jersey on Saturday Nov. 29 in a Great Gatsby-themed wedding. The couple, who recently welcomed their second child just seven weeks ago, celebrated with family and friends. Of course, the celebration wasn’t complete without some of her Jersey Shore castmates, including Sammy Giancola, Jenni “JWoww” Farley and Deena Cortese, in attendance. Polizzi wore two dresses for her big day, an off-white lace gown for her ceremony and a Gatsby-themed dress for the reception.

4. Solange Knowles postpones the release of her Puma sneakers following the outcome of the Darren Wilson case. Knowles’ original release date of her “Wild Wonder” line of Puma sneakers was on Black Friday, but to show solidarity and support for slain teenager Michael Brown, the singer pushed back the release of her shoe line.  “To echo my feelings shared surrounding the outcome of the Michael Brown case, I have solely decided to postpone the release of my Puma collaboration originally scheduled to release this Friday, November 28th to Monday December 1st,” she wrote on her Instagram. “I am truly grateful for everyone’s support and excited to share this collection with you soon.”

5. Calling out her haters, Kendall Jenner reads some less than nice comments about herself in her own Mean Girls inspired Burn Book. “It’s crazy to think North West can already read better than Kendall Jenner” was just one of the — let’s just say “creative” — blurbs Jenner read about herself in her Burn Book. The 19-year-old model reads and writes from the book in a short film for Dazed magazine. The short video shows Jenner reading and writing several comments while lying in a stereotypical teenage girl’s pink bedroom.

6. Cody Simpson and model Gigi Hadid are back on! The twosome rekindled their romance following their split in May. Hadid confirmed to US magazine, saying, “I’m back together with Cody. It’s great. He is such a great guy.” While their work schedules were to blame for their previous split, Hadid says the two are trying to manage their crazy schedules. “We are just trying to balance it and make time when we can,” Hadid explained. “So far it’s working out.”

7. Halle Berry takes Gabriel Aubry to court over her daughter’s hair. After Aubry had their daughter Nahla’s naturally curly mane straightened and lightened, which Berry claimed was an attempt to make her look less African American, she took her model ex to court. While Berry did not appear in court, a judge decided that neither Berry nor Aubry could change Nahla’s natural hair color or texture. The interracial actress and French Canadian model have shared custody of their daughter since their split in 2010.

8. A new Dancing With the Stars champion has been crowned. Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson became the 19th couple to take the coveted mirror ball trophy. In the finals with Ribeiro and Carson were Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas as well as Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy. However, it was Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Ribeiro who became the first male star to win since season 14, and Carson took home her first win after only two seasons of dancing on the show.

9. The MTV family suffers another loss. In sad news, Ryan Knight, The Real World alum, passed away at the age of 29 on Thanksgiving morning. Knight is said to have passed after a night of partying. This is the second death of an MTV reality star in a matter of weeks following the death of Diem Brown. In fact, Knight’s Twitter profile picture is one with him and Brown; the two were on MTV’s The Challenge together.

10. Game of Thrones released a new season five website and teaser, and it was surely one of the things I was most thankful for. The official Game of Thrones Twitter account tweeted a link to the new site, ThreeEyedRaven.com, which allows fans to sign up for notifications regarding the show via Twitter or text message. In the teaser that was entirely too short, it shows scenes from season four of GOT featuring Arya Stark and a narrator saying, “I see a darkness in you.” The 10-second clip also features a flash of possible season five footage, displaying a large double door. While it wasn’t much, it sure sent GOT fans into frenzy, reminding us “Winter is Coming.” Game of Thrones season five will premiere in spring 2015.

That concludes another week of E10! Thanks for reading collegiettes. See you all next week!
