Entertainment Ten: Chris Pine, “Ban Bossy,” and the Worst Bachelor Ever

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Welcome back from break, collegiettes™! What better way to start the semester back up than to catch up on your entertainment news? This week, I’m leading with the BEST entertainment news I’ve heard in a while. Read on!

1. Chris Pine was recently arrested for drunken driving in New Zealand. The actor was at a bar celebrating the last day of schooting a new movie but was later found with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit when local police pulled him over for a routine check. The actor will appear in court on Monday.

2. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are engaged! This makes the part of me that perpetually watches That ‘70s Show and wants Jackie and Kelso to be together forever very happy.

3. Aaron Carter has been tweeting about Hilary Duff. I’m sure I’m not the only one still fangirling over Carter’s appearance on Lizzie McGuire. Carter took to Twitter to express his feelings about Duff saying he had lost the “love of his life” and would “spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her.” This is sweet and all, but remember when he cheated on Duff with Lindsay Lohan? It was our generation’s Brad-Jennifer-Angelina cheating scandal.

4. Miranda Lambert has a new album coming out in June. Homegirl has waited more than two years to create a new album, but it’s not like she’s been sitting on her hands: she’s been touring and released material with the group the Pistol Annies. Her fifth album, Platinum, contains a whopping 16 songs. Ahh, it’s going to be great. Expect it to hit an iTunes on June 3.

5. Beyoncé is part of the new “Ban Bossy” campaign. Ready to lean in, collegiettes™? As part of an effort to do away with labeling women in leadership roles as bossy or pushy, Beyoncé has teamed up with female leaders including Jane Lynch, Jennifer Garner, Condoleezza Rice, and Diane Von Fürstenberg to create a PSA video to be aired on Lifetime. The one-minute video ends with Beyoncé saying, “I’m not bossy. I’m the boss.”

6. Juan Pablo has been deemed the “worst Bachelor ever.” Apparently, show insiders have been talking to E! News and have had nothing good to say about Juan Pablo. Dubbed “the worst bachelor ever,” show producers can’t wait for the season to end. Juan Pablo has ruffled a lot of feathers with his insensitive comments about gay marriage and his use of the “R-word.” According to E! News, another show insider said, “It has not been anyone’s favorite (season). That’s for sure.”

7. Kesha is back without the dollar sign. The singer formerly known as Ke$ha completed her two-month rehab stay for an eating disorder and is now rebooting her music career without the dollar sign in her name. Today, the pop singer is back in L.A. and working on new music.

8. Katie Holmes is coming back to TV. It was a little before our time, but I’m sure we’ve all seen the pictures of a young Katie Holmes during her days on Dawson’s Creek. But according to UPI, she is set to return to TV and play an “Audrey Hepburn-esque” socialite whose perfect marriage is ruined. Personally, I’ve never really seen her as more than Tom Cruise’s (ex) wife, so we’ll see how it goes!

9.  Justin Bieber acted badly during his deposition. Check out the viral clips — the singer is hostile during the entire video and gives the prosecutor a hard time. Bieber has been seen with Selena Gomez a lot lately, which has also spurred rumors that the two are back together. He leaves a lot to be desired as a person sometimes, but I secretly like the two together.

10. Christian Bale is expecting a second child. His wife’s baby bump was spotted on the red carpet at the Oscars, and the two have confirmed they’re expecting a second child. The actor and his wife are already the parents of a 9-year-old girl named Emmeline.

That’s all for this week, see you next time!
