Campus Style: Playfully Polished

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Business casual and business professional are two phrases that leave many collegiettes dumbstruck. Although the interview you’re dressing professionally for may be intimidating, picking out your outfit shouldn’t be. In many instances, black-on-black is the way to go. However, if the circumstances allow you to show a little more personality, have fun with your look. Alexandra Ciccarone was only on her way to class, but her outfit would be perfect for a more professional setting, too. Keep reading to learn where you can buy her head-to-toe polished look!

Name: Alexandra Ciccarone
Age: 20
Year: Junior
Major: Telecommunication

Her Campus: What are you wearing and where is it from?
Alexandra Ciccarone: “This coat is from H&M. The skirt is from H&M too. I think these tights are from Forever 21, and the shoes are actually from Vans. This long-sleeved T-Shirt is probably from H&M. My earrings are from H&M too. I love H&M so much. I should be a spokeswoman for them!”

HC: What is your favorite part about your outfit?
AC: “The coat! I like the tights-and-skirt look because I feel that it’s professional yet cute. I feel that when you wear professional clothes it isn’t always the cutest. The coat brings the whole look together while still looking classy. The color of the coat goes with everything, and I love the burgundy tights paired with a gray-and-white tweed-like fabric. It keeps you warm on a colder day, but it’s still light enough for Florida.”

HC: How would you describe your personal style?
AC: “I like the vintage style. I love to go thrift shopping, and I love to find treasures hidden throughout Goodwill and other little shops. I would say my personal style is vintage-chic but still fun. I always mix it up because I don’t think that you should ever stick to just one thing. One day I may dress a little preppy and the next day I could go rocker.”

HC: Where do you find style inspiration?
AC: “My mood… oh my God, my mood. The weather also changes how I’ll dress. If it’s a cloudy day I might want to wear something with bright colors so I don’t feel as dark as the weather. I do dress mostly on my mood though. If I’m feeling comfortable I’ll wear some leggings and a cute T-Shirt, but I never want to dress sloppily. I’m not a big fan of that. If I’m going to take a test I want to dress good so I feel good because it can give me a confidence boost.”

HC: Do you have any fashion tips?
AC: “Don’t be afraid to try something new. My family is so funny. They’ll say, ‘Only you could wear that.’ And I’ll think no, anybody could wear this! I’m always trying to get my mom to wear rompers, but she won’t listen. If you’re not afraid, you’ll probably feel really good and get some compliments when you step out of the box.”
