Campus Style: Chic but Affordable

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Amanda Fernandez de Castro described her personal style as “chic but affordable.” This is a style many collegiettes are familiar with. Even when our bank accounts are running a little low, we don’t want to compromise on fashion. This is why the art of discount shopping has been perfected by many of us. Amanda looked chic in a blouse and boots, and she shared how cheaply she was able to put this look together. Keep reading to learn more about how Amanda maintains her budget and remains stylish!

Name: Amanda Fernandez de Castro
Age: 19
Year: Freshman
Major: Finance

Her Campus: What are you wearing and where is it from?
Amanda Fernandez de Castro: “My boots are from Macy’s. I got them on sale; they were about $30. My pants are from American Eagle [Outfitters]. They’re dark-wash jeans. This chiffon shirt is from Forever 21. It cost around $15. My necklace is from Just Vogue Jewels. It’s a website that sells monogramed stuff. My earrings are from a little boutique in Miami.”

HC: What is your favorite part about your outfit?
AFDC: “My favorite part of this outfit is definitely the boots because they can dress up anything. I could be wearing these boots with jeans and a T-shirt and I would still look dressed up.”

HC: How would you describe your personal style?
AFDC: “My personal style is definitely chic but affordable. I try to find pieces, like this chiffon shirt, that look clean and professional, but that are still affordable. I look for those staple pieces like great pants and simple shirts, and then I glam it up with accessories.”

HC: Where do you shop for your “chic but affordable” style?
AFDC: “Forever 21 is definitely a favorite of mine. H&M has great pieces too. I’m a business student, and I can find great business-casual outfits there that are also affordable. I always am looking around for things on sale at department stores.”

HC: Do you have any fashion tips for other Gators?
AFDC: “I would say to try and dress well more often. Whenever I am visiting Heavener Hall, the new business school building, I try to look professional there. Whenever you’re walking around on campus, try to make your outfit a little cute even if you want to stay comfy.”
