Butterfly Rainforest at the Museum of Natural History

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

A butterfly at the University of Florida Museum of Natural
History’s Butterfly Rainforest consumes cantaloupe, a surprisingly
favorite food of the species. UF’s Butterfly Rainforest hosts
between 60 and 80 different species of butterfly depending on the
time of year and has live butterfly releases every Saturday and
Sunday at 2p.m., 3p.m., and 4p.m., weather permitting. In addition
to the butterflies, the Florida Museum of Natural History also
contains the permanent Florida Fossils, Waterways and Wildlife,
and People and Environment Exhibits. Visiting exhibits at the
museum are: Crime Scene Insects, Blue Path: Protecting Florida’s
Springs and The Beetles: a Skeleton Crew.
