Accessories can make or break an outfit. The perfect accessories can take an outfit from drab to fab in a cinch, but they can also take a great outfit and make it overbearing. This week I spotted collegiette Cami Mejia on campus, and her accessory game was on point. Cami wore a plain white tank top with ripped boyfriend jeans and brown suede chunky boots. Where is your outfit from? “My tank top is from Forever 21, my jeans are from American Eagle, and my boots are from Timberland. For my accessories, my necklaces are from a couple of places — the turquoise ones are from Aldo, and the other two are also from Forever 21. Lastly, my arm cuff I found at a flea market.”
What do you look for when it comes to fashion? “When it comes to fashion I love to look for that indie/boho look. I want to look comfy but put together at the same time with really great unique pieces.”
Who are your favorite designers? “Even though it’s really girly, my favorite designer right now is Elie Saab. I love his ability to capture a woman’s essence. His designs are so feminine and beautiful; it’s really breathtaking.”
Where do you like to shop? “I love shopping at local thrift stores, little boutiques, and as strange as it sounds, flea markets. I just really love finding a one-of-a-kind piece that I know no one else will have; plus they always have really great prices!”
What are your favorite trends right now? “My favorite trends right now are floppy hats and bralettes! With the floppy hats, I just feel like they’re perfect for a weekend when you’re out and about because they make you look so well put together and sophisticated. The bralettes I love to use for layering; they’re so comfy and cute — I’m obsessed!
What are you currently obsessing about in your closet? “What I’m actually obsessing about right now is the arm cuff I’m wearing! I just got it last weekend and this is the first time I’ve worn it, so you picked the perfect time to stop me!”
