5 Reasons We Still Love Grey’s Anatomy

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Grey’s Anatomy has been gracing our television sets for more than 10 years now, and I’ve heard a lot of people say they think it’s getting boring. My argument to that is: did you see the last episode?! In typical Shonda Rhimes fashion, just when the show seems to be getting dull, she slams us with an episode like this year’s mid-season finale. Honestly, it reminded me of why I fell in love with Grey’s in the first place. And tonight all of my favorite doctors return!

SPOILER ALERT (if you haven’t seen the most recent episode): The last episode of Grey’s finally brought Christina and Meredith’s ongoing feud to a boil, Alex proposed to to Jo (say, what?!), and Shane’s guilt finally gets the best of him and Alex’s dad is probably going to die on the table. But most importantly, Jackson told April he loves her!

Tonight is the night April will finally (I mean hopefully) choose Jackson. Sorry Matthew, but Kepner and Avery belong together. Leave his a** at the altar! Be sure to watch Grey’s Anatomy on ABC tonight at 9 p.m. In the meantime, here are 5 reasons we still love the show and cannot wait to see it return tonight:

1. First and foremost, Shonda Rhimes has an innate talent for making you experience the full spectrum of emotion in 60 short minutes. She’s the woman we all love to hate, and we need her back.

2. Derek will probably be back in the OR thanks to Mr. President! He’s been great with Zola and Baby Bailey, but now it’s time to map the human brain. He’s still McDreamy even after all this time. Need we say more?

3. Alex will keep being Alex. It’s been great to see him finally find someone who gets him. But I’m sure Shonda won’t make it that easy. We have to see what Jo says to his proposal!

4. Christina and Meredith will start being each other’s person again, especially since Derek had his little chitchat with the president. We’ve missed their witty banter and their passion for hating people and loving tequila. But on a sad note, these are the last 12 episodes with Christina in them. Excuse us while we mourn Dr. Yang’s looming departure.

5. And finally…. This. No straight girl, in her right mind, would turn this man down. #chooseJackson!
