The University of Florida has a huge campus, and the first year college can be an even bigger transition. Here are five apps I think every freshman at UF can use to make the experience more enjoyable and less stressful:

1. Google Maps
This app allows you to view car routes, shortcut footpaths, and bus route directions, which is essential at UF. Simply input the location you need to get to and the time you’re leaving your destination. The app will show you the closest bus stop, what route to take, and directions from the stop to your destination. This is definitely a necessity for freshmen who are still trying to figure out UF’s sprawling campus and Gainesville’s intricate bus system.

2. University of Florida
Basically every UF-related website is accessible from this one app. University of Florida makes E-Learning, ISIS, and the UF directory available at the touch of a button. It is definitely convenient to have all of the necessary links integrated into one system.

3. peerFit
Stave off the Freshman 15! PeerFit allows you to view a multitude of group fitness classes in the area and connect with your friends based on the classes they attend. Additionally, you can read instructor reviews and fitness blogs, register for classes, and take advantage of a ton of other constantly updated features to keep you motivated to stay fit.

4. Any banking app
Keeping your finances in check is essential during your first semester because it’s easy to get carried away; therefore, you’ll want to keep track of your spending and credit. Most banking apps have features where you can deposit checks directly into your account by taking a picture with your smart phone. You can also find local ATMs where you won’t have to pay processing fees.

5. Google Drive
Access all of your files from anywhere with Google Drive. This is especially important in college when you may need to use multiple computers for printing, scanning, and submitting assignments. It’s essential to have all of your files backed up and accessible through Internet. Additionally, Google Drive makes it much easier to share files; this can help with collaborating on group projects or plan for school club events.
