46 Thoughts I Had at Taylor Swift’s 1989 Concert in Tampa

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015 was a monumental date in history — and I’m not talking about Halloween. Taylor Swift ended her 1989 North American tour with a final show in Tampa, Florida, and I was lucky enough to attend the hottest concert of the year. Here are just some of the thoughts I had during this life-changing event.

1. It’s Halloween and the last show of Taylor Swift’s 1989 U.S. tour. I’m ready for some life-changing guests. Adele where you at?

2. I’m probably going to look ridiculous in this light-up Diet Coke costume, but it’s Halloween so no one can judge me.

3. Oh, okay. Some of these costumes are really insane.

4. Shout-out to the Christmas Tree family. I hope you someday meet T-Swift.

5. Why is it so hot? It’s basically November.

6. The doors were supposed to open 30 minutes ago. Why am I still in line outside?

7. I’m in and ready to get a hot dog.

8. That hot dog was delicious.

9. Why did I get here so early? It’s still hot.

10. Will I even be able to see anything from these seats? I should have brought binoculars.

11. Oh my word, Shawn Mendes has the voice of an angel.

12. But wait, am I too old for him?

13. In the grand scheme of things, three years isn’t that bad, right?

14. He should sing an Ed Sheeran cover.

15. OH MY GOSH, HE JUST SANG AN ED SHEERAN COVER.

16. Why is Vance Joy dressed like a pirate?

17. Oh right. It’s Halloween.

18. I don’t know any of these songs. I think it’s time for a bathroom break.

19. I hope I don’t miss “Riptide” while I’m in the bathroom.

20. Sweet, I made it just in time for “Riptide.”

21. OKAY T-SWIFT, IT’S TIME.

22. I hope the group of middle-aged women in front of me doesn’t mind the screaming that’s going to surround them in a few minutes.

23. OH MY GOSH IT’S HAPPENING.

24. Where is she? Is that her or another backup dancer?

25. There she is. I couldn’t miss those legs from a mile away.

26. *Screams*

27. What is this bracelet that lights up on it’s own free will?

28. She’s killing it, as expected.

29. She alluded to guests — plural. WHO WILL IT BE?

30. I know this outfit from her Instagram pictures. It’s time for a guest.

31. This intro to the guest is taking forever. Please just tell us!

32. Did my friend just scream thinking it was One Direction because of the album release date? Yes she did.

33. Who is Alessia Cara?

34. Oh. I know this song. But no Adele?

35. That was good, I wish I knew the words.

36. IS TAYLOR IN AN OLAF COSTUME RIGHT NOW?

37. OH MY GOSH. This is every dream come true.

38. Time for another guest already?

39. COULD IT BE? IDINA MENZEL — A LEGEND. Excuse me while I compose myself.

40. Don’t go, Idina. Please just stay forever.

41. YES TAYLOR IS SINGING “FIFTEEN!”

42. Of course there are fireworks during “Shake it Off.” I would expect nothing less from Taylor Swift.

43. Hold up. It’s over already?

44. Hold up. It’s 10:30 p.m. already?

45. The depression about this being over is just too real.

46. BLESS YOU, TAYLOR SWIFT.

For those of you who attended the 1989 tour in Tampa, I’m sure you can relate to most of these thoughts, if not all of them. For those of you who didn’t, I highly recommend catching Taylor Swift at her next world tour, although I just don’t see how she could top this one!
