The 2015 Hallmark Channel Countdown to Christmas Movies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

One of my favorite traditions of the Christmas season takes place in front of the television. Surprisingly, it isn’t ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas, but it’s actually another channel — the Hallmark Channel. This has so many incredible movies that can get you into the perfect Christmas spirit. Every year, my mom and I grab a bottle of wine, get comfy on the couch and watch the newest Hallmark Channel Christmas movies together. While I’m away at college she records the movies I miss so we can watch a different movie every night if we want to! Here is a list of some of the 2015 Hallmark Channel Christmas movies that I am the most excited about.

1. Crown for Christmas
Danica McKellar stars in this film about a maid at a five-star hotel in New York City who gets fired from her job. She takes a temporary job as a governess for a little girl whose powerful and wealthy family lives in an actual castle. She was not excited to take this job, but could it end up changing her future forever? Fun fact: McKellar is an amazing author whose books I read as a little girl.

2. A Christmas Detour
This movie is about a happily engaged bride-to-be who is on her way to a flight to visit her fiancé’s parents. When the flights are all canceled due to a snowstorm, she ends up taking a detour and car ride with a married couple and a heartbroken man. Will she fall for the man when she is engaged to someone else? Watch this film to find out.

3. Angel of Christmas
This movie is centered on a legend about a 100-year-old angel Christmas ornament. The legend says that the angel has the power to bring people together. A doubtful newspaper journalist is writing a story on the ornament when she meets an attractive artist named Brady. Will they fall for each other or go their separate ways?

4. A Christmas Melody
Starring and directed by Mariah Carey, this film is all about the gift of Christmas music. Mariah Carey actually cast Lacey Chabert as the main character for the film because she was her favorite actress in Mean Girls, where she played Gretchen Wieners.

5. Christmas Land
This movie is about a woman who just inherited a Christmas tree farm called Christmas Land from her grandmother. She plans to sell the farm and use the money to buy her dream place in the city, but when she finds out that the person planning to buy the farm has different ideas for the land, she must decide what she will do. Will she sell the land for her dream home or stay on her family’s property?

If you are looking for some new holiday movies this season, then switch your television to the Hallmark Channel, pour yourself a glass of wine, grab a blanket and enjoy some all-new Christmas movies with your family!
