Last Minute Mother’s Day Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UEA chapter.

Mothering Sunday, more commonly referred to as Mother’s Day is a modern celebration honouring one’s mother and motherhood in general. This year Mother’s Day is Sunday 15th March, (yes that’s right, tomorrow).

As university students, very few of us live close to home, and therefore rarely see our mothers. This holiday is therefore an opportunity to get in contact, spend some time with our mums and to remind them how much we love and appreciate them…even if we sometimes forget to show it!

With dissertation deadlines looming and Derby day taking most of your focus, it can be easy to let this holiday slip past, your mother however might have different thoughts. Don’t panic! University is stressful enough! We have put together a few ideas for you if you’re trying desperately to schedule a last minute Mother’s Day Surprise. We hope you find these useful, whether you’re spending the day together of from afar.

Send her a floral delivery

Fresh flowers are a traditional Mother’s Day gift and always make a wonderful surprise. If you can’t spend the day with your mum, order her a flower delivery online, it requires minimal effort and you will make her day! Her Campus UEA personally recommends blossominggifts.com. They have a stunning selection of bouquets to choose from and they are also offering HC readers a 30% discount code!

A pamper day at Imagine Spa at Park Farm

Norwich’s premier day spa at Park Farm provides a relaxing experience at an unbeatable price. It not only boasts the best facilities with a thermal suite including an ice fountain and a mineral salt grotto, it has a delicious kitchen menu with a high tea that rivals The Ritz.

Relax with your mum in one of the outdoor garden pods in your towel robes and fuzzy slippers and sip on champagne whilst choosing from a tower of scones, sandwiches and cakes. With treatments from manicures and pedicures to massages and mud therapy, there is plenty to keep you and your mum entertained for the day.

There is a 25% discount when you sign up to Imagine Spa so you would also be getting it at a hefty discount. Even if you’re not spending the day with her you can buy treatment vouchers online for her to use at a later date when you’re together.

 Breakfast at Number 33

If you and your mum are spending the day together in Norwich, HC UEA recommends a delicious breakfast at No. 33 café bar. With delicious cakes and gourmet breakfasts to choose from, it is the perfect place to start Mother’s Day. Order the eggs benedict and have a relaxing start to the morning, if you’re lucky you might even bump into worldwide beauty blogger Tanya Burr who stops by every time she’s in Norwich.

At the end of the day, Mother’s day is about spending time with her, whether you spend the day together in person, have a phone call or talk on Skype, she just wants to hear from you.
