For our Valentine’s issue of Her Campus UEA, we caught up with this week’s Campus Cutie: Samuel Golden. As cheeky as he is cute, Golden has become an overnight BNOC due to his memorable participation in UEA’s Take Me Out event. The evening raised thousands for charity with the aim of pairing couples through a number of rounds where girls pop their balloons if they are uninterested by the eligible bachelor in question. Golden charmed the girls with his cheeky puns and a strip tease, retaining an impressive number of girls to choose from, and finally winning a romantic date with his pick at Nandos.
We caught up with the Golden boy to find out a bit more…

Relationship status: Single
University Course: Law
Describe yourself in three words: “Confident, funny, cheeky.”
What usually surprises people about you?
“I’m actually quite intelligent, people don’t expect it after hearing my accent. I get a lot of stick off the lads asking how I study a law degree haha!”
How do you stay in shape?
“I play a lot of football, like to go running and eat healthily.”
Sum up your Take Me Out experience in a phrase:
“It was extremely nerve wracking backstage, but absolutely hilarious on stage!”
Sum up your university experience so far in a phrase:
“Oh UEA is wonderful…”
Where is your favourite place to hang out in Norwich?
“I’d probably say either The LCR (Saturday night) or Blue Bar (sports night). I don’t tend to go off campus too much with me being a first year, but I do like to go shopping in Chapelfield.”
What is your best UEA memory so far?
“There have been so many! I really enjoyed Take Me Out – I thought it was brilliant, and Freshers week was just insane, but I’m looking forward to Derby Day more than anything!!”
What are your plans for after university?
“I’m not too sure just yet. I’m thinking about taking a gap year and travelling around the world but of course my main plans involve becoming a lawyer.”
Seeing as its Valentine’s week, what are your plans for Valentine’s Day?
“I don’t actually have any plans for Valentine’s Day. Not yet anyway…Well we have got a football match and then I will most likely be heading to The LCR at night.”
