This week we caught up with the gorgeous Hannah Fitch: UEA student, keen hiker and as from last week our new favourite student radio DJ. Currently in her fourth year of studying French, Fitch is living out her student dreams before graduating this summer, hence her sudden breakthrough to radio.

Hannah is one of many new voices on Livewire: the UEA campus radio station, originally launched by the now BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James during his time at UEA. She will be waking us up gently every Monday morning from 10.30 till noon, playing us an eclectic mix of chart toppers and her own personal favourites. Tune in online and join Hannah for elevenses for a wonderful listen and a bit of relief knowing that you’re not the one unable to eat breakfast in the radio box and playing live to all of UEA.

We sat down with the beautiful Hannah to find out a little bit more:

Name: Hannah Fitch

Degree: French

Hometown: Bury St Edmunds

Describe yourself in a few words: “Cheeky, mellow and a bit of a country bumpkin.”

Favourite UEA memory: “Frank fish funk and soul nights at Frank’s Bar, they are so much freaking fun.”

What can we expect from your radio show?

“Seeing as my slot is from half 10 to 12, I try to keep it easy listening for the first half hour to accommodate all of the late risers! Other than that you can expect lots of new chart tracks combined with a few of my own personal favourites.”

What kind of music are you into?

“My music taste is very broad: a real eclectic mix ranging from Laura Marling to The Cat Empire, from Super Tramp to Artic Monkeys and The Black Keys.”

What is unique about your show?

“I have weekly themes for my slot and in an attempt to make my radio show a little different I have introduced ‘Fitch List’: my own personal suggestions of new things for listeners to try out each week in the area e.g. Bars and great places to visit. Also I include a Story of the day and film reviews.”

Why should HC readers tune into your radio station?

“You need some comforting murmurings in the background whilst you’re waking up on a Monday morning or procrastinating on your laptop. Tune in, you’ll find lots of great information about what’s going on that week on campus and through listening to Livewire you get to know some really great people.”

What are your plans for the future?

“Oh gosh, I don’t know! Potentially a teacher, potentially a french novel translator, or maybe even in the radio business
”

Tune into Hannah’s radio show every Monday from 10.30 till 12 on http://livewire1350.com/
