On Sunday 15th February the annual KAOS fashion show took place at UEA. The stylish spectacle not only showcased a cool combination of high street and student brands, but it also raised thousands for charity.
Our Campus Celebrity this week is the gorgeous Amy Lloyd: Medic, active KAOS committee member and one of the key organisers of last weekās fashion show.
We sat down with Lloyd to find out a little more:
Name: Amy Lloyd
Degree: Medicine
Hometown: Cambridge
Describe yourself in three words:Ā “Energetic, bubbly and organised”
Favourite UEA memory:
“My best memory was Pimp My Barrow last summer. My housemates and I dressed up as a roast dinner with the barrow as a chicken!”
We loved the KAOS fashion show last week, tell us a bit more about it:
“We are a charity society raising money for kids in need abroad. The fashion show is our biggest annual event. We showcased 10 high street, local and student brands modelled by 92 UEA students! We also had UEA student societies performing at the events and pop up shops for students selling homemade products.”
Which charity are you raising money for through KAOS?
“This year we are supporting three charities. New Hope Childrenās Centres in Kenya and Cambodia and Khandel Light in India.”
Tell us a bit more about the chosen charities:
“The children centres house, educate and support children from dangerous backgrounds or whose parents are no longer alive or cannot look after them. We also offer student the opportunity to volunteer in the childrenās centres in the summer break. Khandel light supports childrenās and womenās health in a rural area of India. This year the total raised was Ā£2227.30!”
What was your favourite part of the evening?
“My highlight of the show was the Retreat Vintage line as the clothing really stood out and the models looked stunning. I also really enjoyed supporting student brands Sanāni and Love From Matte, their lines looked fantastic!”
It must have been difficult to plan, what was the hardest part?
“The hardest part about organising the show was the huge number of people to manage! But, the other members of the committee worked really hard too and it was such an amazing team effort!”
What are your plans for the future?
“As a society we will be looking for a new committee really soon. Itās a really fantastic society to get involved with and would look great on any CV! If readers are interested in getting involved they should email us at ueakaos@gmail.com.”
