Trader Joe’s Essentials for Picky Eaters

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCSD chapter.

As a college student, I look for the quickest and yummiest meals that I can make in my dorm! Even though I do have a kitchen, I am still lazy and want to eat the most scrumptious meal possible and put the least amount of work into it. If you are all about instant gratification, then these just might be the products for you. So in no particular order, let me introduce to you the staples of my Trader Joe’s shopping list!

Joe’s Diner Mac ‘n Cheese (With Four Cheese)

This mac ‘n cheese is so scrumptious for a frozen product! As a picky eater, mac n’ cheese is one of my main food groups and is always my go-to to make my tummy happy. It is a great portion size and takes literally 6 minutes to make. Also, the amount of cheese in these is insane, I can hardly tell it’s a microwave meal!

Trader Giotto’s Fettuccine Alfredo

I definitely consider myself a pasta lover, and you can never go wrong with fettuccine alfredo. This product is imported from Italy and can be prepared on the stove or my personal preference, the microwave! This bag consists of pasta, milk, and cream which smells amazing while being made, and only takes 7 minutes. I highly recommend sharing this dish with your friends, and I bet they will not even be able to tell that it is a frozen meal! It’s creamy and buttery consistency is definitely worth it!

Trader Giotto’s Margarita Pizza

How does it only take 10 minutes to bake this cheesy pizza with a crisp thin crust? Trader Joe’s did it again with this fast, easy, and delicious meal. Whether you share or eat the whole thing yourself, I guarantee you will enjoy every bite because it looks just like the picture on the box. The crust is not too bready, there is just the right amount of sauce for my liking, and the cheese is smooth and tasty. I definitely recommend this item for picky eaters who are craving pizza.

Trader Joe’s 5 Cheese Greek Spiral

I recently discovered this snack in college, and it definitely fits into my majority carb diet! Although it does take a bit longer to prepare than these other dishes (25ish minutes),  I think it is so worth it if you have the time! The crust is super flaky, like a croissant, and the cheese blend in the middle is so rich and sharp in flavor, it is addicting. You will want to eat the whole spiral!

Trader Joe’s Organic Caesar Salad Kit

This item is a little different than the others… It has vegetables. Once I branched out and expanded my taste buds a bit, I found myself craving these simple, easy to make salad kits. It comes complete with the lettuce, dressing, cheese, and CROUTONS! Perfect for someone who is lazy like me and does not want to buy everything separately just for a salad! I personally think it is so fun to make and it makes me feel ~healthy~! This salad is definitely a classic for anyone, and it is organic!

I hope you get the chance to try at least one, if not all of these yummy foods! You definitely won’t regret it and might even find your new favorite go-to!
