With the new year comes new style trends. Here’s my take on what’s being left in 2022, what’s coming with us to 2023, and what trends are completely new for the new year. New year, new wardrobe!
IN–Here to Stay
Ballet Core/Pilates Princess
We started to see some ballet core/pilates princess styles emerging at the end of 2022, and I’m happy to say that it will be coming with us into the new year. With the explosion of cute, feminine loungewear such as ultra mini UGG boots, pink satin bows, cute, and comfy off-the-shoulder tops, leg warmers, solid-colored tights and ballet flats, ballet core/pilates princess is in full motion. Pastels, lace, tulle, and ruffles will be making an appearance too, and so will heart motifs! Get excited to be the girliest version of yourself!

Micro skirts/Y2K
Of course Y2K is still pretty prevalent today, but some Y2K trends are on their way out. Summer 2022 was the reintroduction of tiny, micro skirts. I’m not saying get rid of your micro skirts because who knows how long til they’re back in style, so store them in your closet and wait it out, because they’ll be back. This may be controversial, but corsets also may be on their way out, but don’t quote me on that. They’re obviously still incredibly in style right now, but the real question is…for how long? Stock up on Y2K fits, they’re all on sale right now!

MermaidCore
Ethereal, shimmery, sheer. Mermaidcore will come into play in 2023! I’m very excited about this one! With this trend we’ll see lots of sequins (very exciting), iridescent fabrics and jewelry, shells on accessories, and glossy makeup, especially shimmery blue eyeshadow. We will be seeing more crocheted clothing and bags as well. Mermaidcore combines cool tones and sparkles to make you look effortlessly stunning.

Scandinavian Style
Matilda Djerf was one of 2022’s stand-out style icons. She wears trousers, headbands, oversized jackets and blazers, and LOTS of neutral tones. The Scandinavian style is very calm, cool, and collected. While we may still be able to use many of these basics in our day to day, this year we will be moving away from the neutral tones and heading towards more colorful clothing and fun fabrics.
