It’s that time of year when we hear Christmas music everywhere we go, drink cups after cups of Peppermint Mocha at Starbucks, and bundle layer upon layers of knits. With endless ways to keep warm this winter, tis’ the season to definitely be jolly! However, waking up in the cold air to go to school is such a drag it’s tempting just to throw on a pair of sweats and go. But fret not, here’s a list of essentials that will allow you to snooze your alarm and still dress to impress for class! These six items will allow you to stock up your wardrobe basics and give you a little excuse to go shopping!

1) Boots

Boots (whether thigh high, knee high or ankle) will not only instantly glam up your outfit but also keep your toes nice and toasty.

2. Scarves!

All types of scarves are encouraged to be worn during the colder seasons, but your closet needs to have a leopard print one! It’s too much of a classic to miss!

3. Knit EVERYTHING- cardigans, sweater, socks, headbands

Knits are the best way to bundle up for the colder weather! Pair any of your outfits with a knit something, you’ll be winter ready in a flash. (I literally live in my knit cardigans!)

4. Leather Leggings

Leather leggings may sound intimidating at first, but once you get your hands on a pair, it’ll be the most comfortable thing you own. Not to mention, it’s so simple to throw on under an oversized sweater. It’s like trying without trying!

5. Animal Print Sweater

What’s more laid back than channeling your inner child and bringing back the animal prints trend? This season, sweaters with cute animals on it are the way to go!

6. Flannels

Like we covered in the article before, flannels are the perfect piece to rock on campus. The oversized form allows comfort, while the thickness gives the perfect warmth.

While you go Black Friday shopping this Holiday season, be sure to pick up these items and prepare yourself for the dreadful morning classes. These winter staples will allow you a variety of lazy yet chic outfits. Remember, the key is to look like you’re trying without really trying! Comfort is key!

Rachel has found her heart and her home in California, choosing to spend her college years in sunny Santa Barbara. However, Rachel continued her wanderlust when she studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain in Fall 2012.
