As someone who is very invested in skin care, I have tried a fair amount of sunscreen, both from the States and from South Korea. So, in order to save you some time, I’ve compiled a list of the best from both local drugstores and online specialty shops.

5.) COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50 PA+++, 50ml

This sun cream offers both sun protection and soothing aloe properties in order to soothe the skin after and during sun exposer. I did not find that this product had a white cast, but did notice it was a bit on the heavier side for me. The scent is light and doesn’t smells like chemicals.

4.) Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Sunscreen Lotion with Broad Spectrum SPF 50

This lotion was extremely refreshing and hydrating. I found I could even skip moisturizer after applying this in the morning. The product comes with a hyaluronic acid formula and the fresh smell all hydro boost products boast. It also has no discernible white cast.

3.) ETUDE HOUSE Sunprise Mild Airy Finish Sun Milk SPF50+

Boasting a cotton-like and airy finish, this sun screen is a life saver for those with oily skin. It also wears beautifully under makeup and keeps sebum under control throughout the day. The product is not heavy bore contains any discernible scent, as it’s consistency is extremely milky.

2.) Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen, 1.7 oz – SPF 40 PA+++

Despite being the most expensive product on the list, Supergoop managed to create a fantastic sunscreen. There’s no sticky texture after application and dries down beautifully. There is also note white cast or overpowering scent. If you feel like splurging, this sunscreen is a great place to start.

1.) Missha All Around Safe Block Soft Finish Sun Milk EX SPF50+/PA+++

Arguable Missha’s masterpiece product, this sun block provides a beautiful matte finish without being overly drying. It’s texture is on the milkier side and spreads easily, making application much quicker. I did notice a slight white cast upon initial application, however it disappeared within the following few minutes.

Sunscreen is an extremely important part of one’s skin care routine. It can help prevent premature aging, sun damage, and cancer all while doubling as moisturizers and primers. With its increase in popularity, good sunscreen has also become more widely available, specifically ones from South Korea. With the country’s strong focus on healthy skin, it is no surprise some of the best sun protection products come from K-beauty.
