Things to Do for Halloween Besides Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCSB chapter.

If you’re a UCSB student, you know how crazy it gets around here during Halloween weekend. Although our school’s name is practically synonymous with partying, we know not everyone who goes here wants to spend all weekend roaming down DP. Here are a couple of cool things to do if you don’t feel like hitting up the party scene in Isla Vista:

1. Watch some scary movies

Have a viewing party with your friends and watch some scary flicks in the dark! Extreme horror not your thing? Halloween is a great night to revisit some classic Halloween movies (Hocus Pocus, anyone?) and Halloween-themed episodes of your favorite current and childhood shows.

Don’t lie, that Halloween episode of Suite Life freaked everyone out.

2. Have a baking get-together

Take advantage of it this sweet holiday! (Plus, it’ll make a super cute Insta pic.)

3. Go to a Halloween-themed amusement park, haunted house, or maze.

It’s always fun to pay to get scared by random people with your friends or solve a puzzle. These are also great places to bring a date to!

Just don’t pull an Andy.

4. Start putting up your Christmas/Thanksgiving decorations.

Um, Halloween will be over, so…

Have a Happy Halloween! And if you do decide to party, stay safe and…

Hi, Collegiettes! I'm Carmen, a Communication major at University of California, Santa Barbara and one of two Campus Correspondents for UCSB. I would love to one day work in either fashion, food, tech, financial services or philanthropy. My dream is to find a job that somehow combines several of those elements. Until I get there, I'll be munching on copious amounts of Trader Joe's dried mango, jamming out to my man, Frank Sinatra, and focusing on creating intriguing content! If you like my writing, talk to me. ;)
Kirby is a recent graduate from UCSB currently living in Los Angeles. As a proud Her Campus UCSB alum, she's happy to be back on the HC team covering one of her fave shows: "The Mindy Project." On any given day you can find her with her nose in a book (let's be real - it's a Kindle). In her free time, she likes petting dogs, binge-watching TV, and eating a lot of food. Find her on Instagram: @kirbynicoleb or @GirlBossEats.
