Soft shorts are exactly what their name suggests: super comfortable shorts made out of any fabric that’s softer than typical denim. It’s no wonder these shorts are a staple this season – they’re extremely lightweight and come in an array of lengths and patterns, including floral, which is always a necessity for spring. Even though they’re perfect for lounging around the house on a lazy day, these loose-fitting shorts are stylish enough to wear to class, making them the ultimate warm weather wardrobe essential for college students.

Wear a short, flowy top with a pair of high-waisted soft shorts to create a chic drapey effect that doesn’t reveal too much skin. This look can also easily translate from day to night with the correct style of loose-fitting top.  A simple cotton shirt is ideal for a daytime appropriate outfit, but break out the silky tanks with lace or ruffle detailing for a night out.

These shorts take flowy to another level! Avoid an overly baggy outfit by contrasting soft shorts that are a breezier than most with a tight-fitting crop top. Keep classiness in mind, though, and avoid wearing shirts this cropped with shorts that are anything other than high-waisted.

Tucking in a top it works well with almost any pair of soft shorts, whether they’re high-waisted or low-waisted, flowy or form-fitting. Wear them with a button-up shirt for a put together look that says “quirky fashion blogger,” or try a tucked-in tee to give off a laid-back vibe that still stays true to their trendiness.

Busy prints call for a solid top, but single-colored soft shorts require the opposite. When wearing simpler shorts, don’t dull down the entire ensemble – pair them with a bold patterned top that contains coordinating colors. In addition, be sure to look out for one-color shorts that are trimmed to up the style factor of your outfit even more.
