With all the assignments, exams, deadlines, and events we have on our plates, college can be stressful. It’s easy to feel anxious and out of control when we’re not staying on top of everything. Luckily, there is something that can keep you from feeling like a #hotmess… here are some reasons why buying a planner will change your life:

1. You’ll feel in control.

Keeping a physical copy of your schedule that you update daily, will help you feel less overwhelmed about everything you need to accomplish to be the #badass that you are.

2. You’ll get your sh*t together.

If you’re a procrastinator (like me), a planner will be especially useful. Deadlines won’t sneak up on you, because you’ll have already been planning ahead and will be less likely to pull the all too familiar, all-nighter before a big assignment.

3. You’ll be more creative.

You don’t just have to use a planner to stay organized; it can be a creative part of your day too. Doodling and placing stickers next to due dates and events can help you get your creative juices flowing. You can also add idea, quote, or positive thought pages. When I started using my planner, I set aside idea pages for my blog and creative projects. The possibilities are endless!

4. You’ll feel accomplished.

Checking off boxes next to the tasks you accomplish is just the satisfaction you need after a long school day. Doing this will make you feel productive and rewarded.

In sum, if you’re feeling overwhelmed or like things just aren’t going your way, take a deep breath. Buy a planner and meet your new best friend.

Hi, Collegiettes! I'm Carmen, a Communication major at University of California, Santa Barbara and one of two Campus Correspondents for UCSB. I would love to one day work in either fashion, food, tech, financial services or philanthropy. My dream is to find a job that somehow combines several of those elements. Until I get there, I'll be munching on copious amounts of Trader Joe's dried mango, jamming out to my man, Frank Sinatra, and focusing on creating intriguing content! If you like my writing, talk to me. ;)
