New Year New Trends; What Will Make It On Hot Ticket UCSB In 2023?

We have all seen the fashion trends come and go in 2022, so let’s look into 2023 and see what’s up next, and what’s out for the count.

  1. Heels With An Everyday Outfit

I’ve been trying to get behind this look all of 2022 and I think it’s finally time that we, as a society, let this be the best fashion trend of 2023. I go to the thrift store and all I want to buy are the vintage heels but I always find myself putting them back and saying, “I have nowhere to wear these.” Now, things are different. The fashion world is going to let heels and a simple outfit with jeans be the most influential look of the year. Now is this really going to be a huge trend this year? I’m not sure. But do I really really want this to be a trend this year? Yes, yes I do.

  1. Maxi Denim Skirts

These definitely started up again in 2022 and I think we need to keep ’em coming; they’re a more fun version of jeans that make every outfit look way trendier than it actually is. It’s the perfect easy trend for this year. There are so many variations of this and they’re also so easy to up-cycle and make, which is awesome. I have a good feeling about the denim maxi skirts!

  1. Loafers

Another trend that came back in and will be staying for the long run: loafers. Whether they are snazzy “clean girl” loafers or alternative Dr. Martin platform loafers, these will stay in 2023 to spice up any outfit. You see someone with a super basic outfit on but they’re wearing loafers? They must have amazing style.

  1. Micro Skirts

Our first trend that will not be seeing the light of day in 2023. Micro skirts. As cute as they are, these little itty bitty skirts are some of the most impractical pieces of clothing out there. In 2023, we are going for comfort and cuteness. This does fall into the cuteness category but not quite into the comfort category considering you have to pull the skirt down every time you stand up. Longer skirts for the win this year.

  1. Denim On Denim

These ones have also been coming back in recent years but it’s definitely controversial. I think this year, denim on denim will be back: denim matching sets, if you will. As long as we’re not wearing dark wash or skinny denim, wearing an all denim outfit will make you seem like the most fashionable person on earth, and will probably get you a feature on Hot Ticket UCSB.

  1. Corset Tops

I hate to say this one, but the time has come. Corset tops were in all of 2022, and they did a good job running their course, but their time here has come to an end. Although some styles can be cute, our friend the Urban Outfitters Corset is ready to be retired. Maybe we can just wear tank tops again.

  1. Moon Boots

This is another new trend that I think has already been around a little too long. Moon boots in places like California are definitely an interesting choice. They can definitely be fashionable, but let’s not make it a trend in 2023 to spend hundreds of dollars on snow boots in Santa Barbara, where it in fact doesn’t snow.

  1. Sets Sets Sets

Alright. Double whammy. One must stay and one must go. Loungewear sets are gonna stay in: super cute and comfy. Sets to go out in, are saying buh-bye in 2023. Usually most clothing sets are from places like SHEIN or Princess Polly (which are other trends we need to eliminate from 2023). Although a cute set can be good once in a while, we don’t need them this year.

  1. Boho (its back)

Boho is back for the new year. Free People and Anthropology energy is coming right back. Long dresses and wide leg pants with some crazy patterns is exactly what we need this year.

  1. Leather Flare Pants , They’ve Run Their Course

Aritzia, I’m sorry to ruin your leather pants sales, but I don’t think anyone else needs to own a pair of leather pants from your store. The urban corset and the Aritzia pants are the last thing that will get you posted on Hot Ticket, and that’s not what we want, is it?

This is what Hot Ticket is looking for this year, so get ready. This is fully based on my educated opinions on fashion, don’t take it too personally.
