I know I’m speaking for many when I say that social media often makes me feel more self-conscious. Many people on social media with huge followings are models, celebrities, or full-time content creators. For people with such careers, it’s not uncommon for them to pay top dollar for private chefs, workout trainers, plastic surgeons, and other expensive treatments to maintain their physiques. Over the past few months, I have made it a goal of mine to only follow accounts that teach me how to love my body, no matter what it looks like, rather than tempt me to buy diet products or workout plans.

Sienna Mae (@siennamae) and Brookylnne (@xobrooklynne) were some of the first body positive Tiktokers I stumbled upon. Both of these confident ladies taught me that all bodies are beautiful, but also how deceiving posing can be. Sienna is known for showing how easy it is to deceive people online by simply adjusting a piece of clothing. Brookylnne’s tiktoks target internet haters who claim she cannot wear certain clothes due to her body type. With a smile on her face in every video, Brooklynne simply tells them to let her do what she wants with her body. The main reason I adore these two creators is for their efforts in normalizing all body types! No single body type equates to beauty, so instead everyone should just accept their beautiful selves!

If you’re looking for a virtual hype woman, take notes from Malia Schmalleger (@maliaschmalleger). When I found Malia on my for you page, I could not stop myself from smiling. Some of her catchphrases include “It’s all gonna be okay!” and “omg you’re so cute!,” phrases I definitely needed to include in my internal dialogue. At the end of the day, it’s really up to you to change the content you see on social media. Instead of following accounts that make you feel self-conscious, fill your following list with people that normalize normal body types, and make you feel happy! Following the right creators can boost your confidence, but confidence is still found from within. Please remember to love yourself at every stage and remember your worth!
