Movies to Look Forward to in December

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCSB chapter.

December is finally here! Cheers to the holidays and new movies expected to come out in theaters! Going to the movies is perfect for the cold and windy month of Decemeber when we just feel like staying indoors, but still want to go out and spend time with our families, friends, and loved ones. Look out for some of these new flicks coming soon to a screen near you.

1. Krampus

Genre: Horror/ Holiday

In Theaters: Dec.4, 2015

A scary movie on Christmas? Who would’ve ever thought?! This isn’t your typical happy Christmas movie where everyone is brought together to enjoy the holiday. Krampus is a demonic creature that punishes those that don’t believe in Christmas, like young Max in the movie. Along with the rest of the family, Max is terrified of the monstrous attacks Krampus brings to their home. Watch the trailer here .

2. Everything Will Be Fine

Genre: Drama

In Theaters: Dec. 4, 2015

I don’t know about you, but I can’t seem to get enough of James Franco! This movie captures the life of a struggling novelist who is involved in a car accident along with a young boy. He spends the next 12 years of his life looking back at how the tragedy affected his life and notices how he has become a more successful writer after the incident. Watch the trailer here .

3. Sisters

Genre: Comedy

In Theaters: Dec.18, 2015

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are the perfect duo to literally make us laugh out loud this holiday season! You can grab your sister or your besties for a movie night and watch Sisters, out in theaters on December 18th. The movie follows two disconnected sisters who are forced to go home to clean out their childhood rooms after discovering that their parents have sold their house. They reconnect once again by throwing a high school reunion/party for their old classmates. Watch the trailer here .

4. The Revenant

Genre: Drama

In Theaters: Dec.25, 2015

Who else is hoping Leonardo DiCaprio finally receives an Oscar after this movie? Based on a true story, The Revenant takes place during the 1800s in the American wilderness, where a trapper is left for dead by his hunting team. His desire for vengeance leads him to travel through the wintry terrain and seek for the man who abandoned him. Watch the trailer here .

Fashion, writing, and dogs are my passions. I'm a Communications major, hoping to work for fashion PR someday. Oh, and I'm totally in love with Zac Efron!
