Goodbye Winter Quarter Blues, Hello Spring!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCSB chapter.

Whether you are a first year student or a seasoned Gaucho, chances are you had a rough winter quarter. Between random hail storms, winds strong enough to knock you over, what seemed like a five week long midterm season, and only a week off at the end, winter quarter is the worst. Luckily, we all survived and have a quarter full of sunshine and fun times to look forward to. Hopefully you all had a great Deltopia, the ultimate way to kick off spring quarter. While the biggest event of the quarter may have come and gone, there is lots more to look forward to this coming quarter.

1. The number one perk of spring quarter? Unlimited beach days. With the weather finally back to its normal 80 degrees with the sun shining, you can plan a lot of beach time this quarter. This is the perfect time to learn how to surf so when you go home for the summer and tell all your friends you became a surfer at UCSB, it won’t just be a white lie. Work on your tan and soak up those high UV indexes. The beach is the perfect place to spend a day taking a nap, working on homework, or having a picnic.

2. Music festival season is about to kick off with Coachella creeping up in just a few short weeks. While some of the bigger festivals may be harder to get to, check out some  festivals going on around California. Stagecoach, the ultimate country music festival, takes place at the Indio Polo Fields immediately following Coachella. Bottlerock, a festival full of good food and chill music, will be held in Napa during Memorial Day Weekend.

3. Looking to stay local and get the most out of your spring quarter right here in IV? Luckily, dayge season is upon us! Look out for the many “day-rage” parties that will be going on up and down DP all quarter long.

No matter how you chose to spend your spring quarter, hopefully it’s filled with lots of sunshine, good friends, and a ton of fun to round out this school year!
