In the last couple of years since I kicked the awful habit of biting my nails, I’ve become a bit nail-crazed. I own over a hundred bottles of nail polish and am “that girl” who is never seen with a chipped nail. Needless to say, I visit Sephora quite often, stocking up on my favorite brand – OPI. This summer when my mom – a manager at my local Sephora – told me that OPI was being discontinued, I may have teared up… just a tiny bit!
But only a few months later, I found myself at the Sephora on State Street frantically trying on every nail polish I could.
Why? Sephora’s latest nail polish collection: Formula X. Even the name sounds badass! As I looked up at the endless rows of glittering colors I saw neon colors, chromatic metallics, glittery top coats, and every color of the rainbow. As if the huge selection of colors and textures isn’t enough, the top coats are the best I have ever tried. Glittery and chunky top coats that would usually glob and gunk onto my nails went on smooth as silk. Like, only one coat necessary smooth. I swear I wasn’t drooling…
After what was probably an hour in real life time (very different from shopping time), I picked a top coat: Chaotic. A black and white mixture of abstract textures that didn’t clump at all despite the thickness of the polish. Then – after only an hour of choosing a base color – I was ready to revel in the glory of my work:
Perfect! Easy to use, yet great to look at. Some may scoff at the relatively hefty price tag of the Formula X polishes – ranging from $10 to $12.50 – but I think the investment is more than worth it. These polishes come in a zillion colors, textures, and shades plus are long-lasting and simple to use. So next time you’re in Sephora picking up some new mascara or eggnog scented body wash, whip out those bare nails and jazz them up. I mean you might as well – testing is free!
