It’s that time of the year again! It’s the beginning of a new school year and you’re hyped about all the things you want to accomplish by the end of Spring quarter– we bet getting more involved is one of the top things on that list. Here’s a diverse list of fun and exciting extra-curriculars you can get involved in at UCSB to make your college experience that much better!

1)      Excursion Club

Are you an outdoors-y type of person? Do you like adventure? Does exploring fuel your fire? If you answered yes to any of these you should check out the Excursion Club!

They offer opportunities to go skydiving, backpacking, stand up paddleboarding, fishing, mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, yoga and way more!

2)      KCSB  – Santa Barbara’s Student Run Radio Station

Are you into news, whether that be on a local, national, or global scale? Do you want to be the DJ of your very own radio show? Are you a sports fanatic and want to do live-coverage of UCSB sporting events?

3)      A Cappella Groups

Do you sing in the shower but want to show off your talents? There’s an all girl a cappella group of UCSB called  Vocal Motion & an all boy team B.F.O.M (Brothas From Otha Motha’s).They usually table in the San Miguel Lawn so keep an eye out for them!

5)      UCSB Ski & Snowboard Team

Want to take a break from the ocean for a bit and venture out into the snow? UCSB’s Ski & Snowboard Team welcomes students from all levels! You don’t need to be an expert but it’s ok if you are, too! Check out their About section on FB to contact them.

6)      Intramural Sports Team

This is one of the most common ways to get involved on campus – there are 16 sports to choose from and levels range from Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Create a team with friends or join a new one for a chance to meet new people!

8)      Swipe Out Hunger- UCSB

Swipe Out Hunger, formerly known as “Swipes for the Homeless” is an organization on campus that donates leftover common dining swipes to feed the homeless in the Santa Barbara area.

9)      Life of the Party

Are you just not that into the night life at UCSB or just want to find alternative ways to have fun? Life of the Party is an organization that promotes safe partying & drinking.

10)  Rec Cen Classes

I bet you didn’t know that you can take some awesome exercise classes AND GET UNITS FOR THEM! Yep, there are .5 unit classes in varying levels of badminton, basketball, boat & sail, tumbling, volleyball, indoor cycling, ballroom dancing, golf, racquetball and way more!

Sign up on GOLD under the “Exercise Sport” section (not Exercise Sport Studies) during your passtime for a good way to pass-time!

11)  Isla Vista’s Food Co-op

Isla Vista’s Food Co-op is a Natural Foods Store in the community that provides healthy, fresh, and local produce.

You can volunteer in many ways and if you reach a certain amount of hours you can even get a discount! YES.
