Deciding to go abroad can be an emotional process, and, let’s face it, the lengthy application process doesn’t really help. You know it will all be worth it in the end and you’re out on your overseas adventures…but can’t that end come any sooner?!

1. Feeling overwhelmed at all the options there are.

What do you mean over 300 programs? Mexico? Morocco? Russia? France? How am I going to narrow this down?!

2. After you’ve finally chosen your top programs, having to narrow those down to top-TOP programs.

But how can I choose between a quarter in Rome or a quarter in Paris?!

3. And then trying to decide which term to go in.

If I go during winter I’ll skip tourist season, but if I go during spring I get the beautiful weather!

4. Starting to fill out all that lengthy paperwork.

Online application? Acadademic Planning Form? Statement of purpose? Wow.

5. Running around to meet with all your advisors to get letters written and paperwork signed.

Hi, yes, could you please just sign this? I have 15 other places to go to after this.

6. Quadruple checking your application checklist to make sure you have all of the ridiculous number of copies the Study Abroad office needs for everything.

What could you possibly be doing with 3 copies of my unofficial transcripts?

7. Getting to the EAP office on your application due date to find out, surprise, more paperwork!

Seriously?

8. Sitting there nervously as you get your application looked over by an advisor.

If I’m told I’m missing something, I will lose it.

9. That anxious waiting game for the next 3-4 weeks until you’re told if you’ve been accepted into your program or not.

I’ve been through so much, please just let me in.

10. When you finally get that congradulations e-mail. You’re going abroad!

Whoo!

Spoiler Alert: There is only more paperwork from here, sorry, Collegiettes! But we promise it will totally be worth it!
