10 Reasons to Celebrate Galentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCSB chapter.

No Valentine? No problem! Not everyone is aware of this amazing day, and that’s okay! I’m here to fill you in with all of the important details. Galentine’s Day was created by Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation and should be celebrated on February 13th.

So here are 10 reasons you and all of your best gal pals need to celebrate this glorious holiday:

1. It’s a great excuse to have one great big brunch with all of your friends.

2. Whole wheat toast and egg whites? NOT TODAY! Make room for waffles, waffles, and more waffles.

3. Boys are whatever, friends are forever.

4. You can get in touch with your creative side and make your friends homemade gifts.

5. You all finally have the chance to catch up and share your most recent crazy stories- in a judgment free zone of course!

6. It falls on a Saturday this year, so it’s the perfect night to turn up or stay in with your friends.

7. Forget trying to impress anyone, your bff will think you’re beautiful no matter what.

8. Everyone loves to ridiculously sing and dance with their bffs, and no better day to do so than Galentine’s Day!

9. You get the chance to embrace and celebrate girl power! (Although you should feel free to do so every day!)

10. Last but not least, you get to remind your friends how much you love them and how thankful you are to have them in your life.

So thanks, Leslie, for coming up with this great idea!

I think it’s safe to say that we all agree!
