UCLA Beats USC 38-28!!!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

The biggest news at UCLA this week is most definitely the win over USC football for the first time in six years! First all, a HUGE CONGRATUATIONS to the team, coaches, staff, and fans for being a part of the game. The tailgating started as early as 6am as fans brought out their coolers for a day full of excitement and redemption. All Bruins were pumped to be able to be a part of the glory—from early morning to celebrations late at night. Despite the rainy weather, the game started off with the Bruins ranked #17 and Trojans ranked #18. A good sign for the Bruins, which became an even better reality.

To start of the game, a quick interception by UCLA was converted into a touchdown and the blue and gold were off to a 7-0 start. From that point on, the Bruins kept conquering the field until a solid 24-0 lead was established. Closing off the first half, USC was able to make a few plays to bring the score to 24-14. Following halftime, the Trojans came out fighing, and actually did manage to come close and level the score to 24-21. But let’s be realistic, coming close is definitely not the same thing as gaining the lead, which the Trojans failed to do at all this game. After a few more plays by both teams, UCLA senior Johnathan Franklin completed a 29-yard run and brought the team to its final score of 38-28—and more importantly UCLA’s claiming of the Pac-12 South Title!!

Celebrations continued in Westwood following the game, with Bruins eager to show their school spirit. Also, an update of rankings this morning has UCLA ranked #15 and USC unranked. Sorry bout it, Trojans. Not only did UCLA prove to be the winners at football, but players and fans agree that we truly do Run LA.

Best of luck to the Bruins as they move forward in the journey to clenching the Pac-12 Championship!
