To celebrate this year’s Pride month, here are my top 4 LGBTQ+ movies you need to watch right now! Each movie takes you on an incredible journey of overcoming adversity and finding self-acceptance.

Love, Simon

Ah, the age-old tale of finding oneself during one of the most impactful times of our lives: high school. Love, Simon is an amazing modern take on finding oneself and navigating through life. I promise that while watching this film, you will laugh, cry and feel all of the feels. If you are looking for a wholesome lighthearted film, this is for you!

Booksmart

This film is the funniest I have put on my list. It follows two best friends who have been studying all of high school to get into top colleges. Little do they know that all of their other classmates did the same while making time for social events. Feeling like they had missed out, they go out for their final night to create memories they missed out on. This film touches on so many great themes of friendship, love, exploring oneself and finding self-acceptance. I think everyone can relate to it on so many levels!

Moonlight

Winning the Academy Award for Best Motion Picture, Moonlight is a film that you can’t miss. This film follows the lifetime of Chiron and his journey into the adult world with the guidance and support of his community and loved ones. This is an incredible story that will touch audiences for many years to come.

Boy Erased

This movie was so powerful I am tearing up just writing about it. This movie centers around a conservative family that finds out that their son is gay and sends him to conversion camp. There, he finds who he is meant to be and discovers a support system along the way. If you are interested in a heart-wrenching movie that displays one of the most incredible relationships between mother and son that I have ever seen, I would highly recommend this film.

Here are my favorite LGBTQ+ movies that you all should watch. I hope you enjoy this perfect start to Pride month!
