Whether you’re staying home with your loved one or hitting up the nearest pub with the girls, these 4 drinks will keep your holiday spirits aglow. Follow these recipes for the classiest and tastiest Irish-themed beverages.
 

  1. Irish Coffee: 45 degrees in LA??? This traditional Irish drink is perfect for those planning to snuggle up next to the fireplace. Combine hot coffee with Irish whiskey. Add sugar. Top with liquid cream, and you’ve got a delectable treat to warm up you and your honey. (TIP: Don’t like coffee? Try combining hot chocolate with Bailey’s Irish Cream for a St. Patrick’s Day spirited refreshment.)
  2. Irish Car Bomb: This one’s a favorite. Order at the bar or make it yourself, whatever suits your fancy. Pour a shot of Irish cream topped with Irish whiskey. Drop the shot glass into a glass of Guinness (or other Irish-style beer) and chug away!

  3. Irish French Kiss:     Looking for something sweet and unique? Try this orange-kissed Irish drink. Mix equal parts of Cointreau and Grand Marnier orange liquers and double the Bailey’s. Garnish with orange slices and enjoy!
  4. Frozen Leprechaun: Hosting a party for the occasion? Impress your friends with this spunky and tasty green drink. In a blender combine equal parts Bailey’s, Kahlua, peppermint Schnapps and milk. Add ice and blend. Pour into cute glasses and top with mint.

Madeline Hunt is a senior at UCLA majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Spanish. Originally from the laidback beach-town of Santa Barbara, the California native finds the fast-paced nature and eccentricity of LA extremely exciting. Once more, she decided to expand her horizons when she studied abroad this past fall in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She served as an entertainment reporter on UCLA’s accredited student newspaper, The Daily Bruin, under the video division and is a current member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. During her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, exercising, going to the beach, shopping (online shopping will be the death of her!), reading Glamour and Cosmo, eating Mexican food and sushi, spending time with her friends, practicing her Spanish, and satisfying her weakness for caffeine with Starbuck’s lattes.
